ECG cuts power to new Cape Coast Stadium over GHC719k debt

The newly constructed Cape Coast Stadium
The Electricity company of Ghana (ECG), has cut power supply to the new Cape Coast stadium as part of its ongoing mass disconnection exercise .

The Stadium owes the ECG, GHC719,792.56.

In the Eastern region, institutions such as the St. Joseph's Hospital and the Ghana Prisons Service have all been affected in the exercise.

The exercise also sparked a scuffle at the Koforidua Prisons as officers there reportedly ceased the ladder of the ECG taskforce who had gone there to disconnect.

However, the Koforidua Polytechnic were spared after they pleaded with part-payment of their debt.

ECG Officials will carry out a similar exercise at the Eastern regional headquarters of the Police Service and other institutions tomorrow, Tuesday June 28.

The move is being carried out by the state power distributor to collect outstanding debts from customers.
