AUDIO: Obinim Replies Critics: Keep Quiet...

The founder and leader of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has broken his silence over a video of him beating two members of his church for fornicating and attempting abortion.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Bishop Obinim did not understand why Illiasu (the boy, 16) whose father had died and was still in school would have sex with Gyasiwaa, 14, who is learning a vocation to become a beautician.

The two, who confessed their ‘sins’ to Obinim when they were called before the entire congregation in Kumasi, were beaten by the Pastor with a men’s leather belt, to the apparent delight of the members of the church.

In the 2.59 minute video of the incident, the pastor resolved to punish in a manner many have described as assault and against the human rights of the two.

Amnesty International as well as others have called for the arrest of Obinim. However in an audio released on Thursday, Bishop Obinim said:

"Everyone under the hearing of my voice should listen and spread this audio...these two kids leave with us and we take care of them. My wife and I are very busy people and so we hardly stay at home. The sixteen year old boy is a student and the girl started leaving with us when she was 10 years; she is now 14 years...not knowing they were fornicating. This led to pregnancy and they decided to abort it but didn't succeed. So what if in attempting to abort, you bled and died? The family as well as the entire country will blame and accuse me of killing someone's daughter. Would you have looked on unconcerned if they were your children. I got to know of this issue through a revelation...Prov 13:24 and Matthew 21:12 teaches us discipline...if you hear something about someone keep quiet...." he said.
