Arnold Schwarzenegger: Trump has 'no interest' being involved in 'Apprentice'

As Arnold Schwarzenegger takes over the boardroom of "The New Celebrity Apprentice," he's promising a new catch phrase — and no interference from the show's former chief, President-elect Donald Trump, even though he will remain on as executive producer.

"I think it's perfectly fine that he has executive producer credit because he created the show with Mark Burnett together, so why should his credit go?" the former California governor told TODAY's Matt Lauer.

"He made it very clear that he has no interest in being involved. It is now my show, I'm the host, I'm the new boss and I'm going to run this show."

Schwarzenegger said Trump played a big role in getting him on the NBC program, joking it had to do with one of the famous campaign promises the president-elect made on the trail.

"He was part of the negotiations, so I get millions of dollars for hosting the show, but NBC doesn't have to pay for it — Trump makes Mexico pay for it!" he said. "I mean, isn't that great?"

Schwarzenegger, a staunch Republican, said he has no problem working for Trump, even though he did not support his presidential campaign and even encouraged others in their party to vote for someone else.

"Now he's elected, and now it is very important that we all support the president, and that we all come together and we stop whining and it becomes one nation," he said.
Asked whether he will put his own touch on the show's history of using "You're fired!" to celebrities who lose on the show, Schwarzenegger said he's toying with several options, all of them lines from his famous movies.

"It could be 'You're terminated.' Or, 'Hasta la vista, baby.' Or 'Hit the road,' or 'Consider this a divorce,' or 'Get to the chopper,'" he said. "It could be anything, it could any of those things."
