We are informed “he drove it out of his house unto the Patrice Lumumba road”.

US election: Hillary Clinton releases her tax returns

Hillary Clinton has released her tax returns, adding to the pressure on her Republican rival for the White House, Donald Trump, to do the same.
The Democratic presidential candidate paid an effective federal tax rate of 34.2% last year.
Her running mate Tim Kaine, along with his wife Anne Holton, paid a rate of 20.3%, his returns show.
Mr Trump, a hotel developer with a fortune estimated to be in the billions, has refused to release his.
Presidential candidates typically release their tax returns to the media to show their effective tax rate, charitable donations and other financial details.

Mr Trump, who has released a self-reported financial disclosure form, said he will not make his tax returns public until the Internal Revenue Service completes audits of them.
The IRS has said Mr Trump is free to release his returns. Mr Trump would be the first presidential candidate in decades not to release his returns.
Then-President Richard Nixon released his tax returns in 1973, starting an…

A Kenyan athletics coach has been sent home from Rio after posing as an athlete and giving a urine sample.
Kenya said sprint coach John Anzrah "presented himself" as 800m medal hope Ferguson Rotich and "even signed the documents" for the doping test.
"We cannot tolerate such behaviour," said Kip Keino, chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.
Meanwhile, athletics' governing body has suspended Kenyan official Michael Rotich over corruption allegations.
The country's track manager was sent home from Rio following newspaper allegations that he was prepared to warn coaches about drugs tests in return for £10,000.
He appeared in court in Nairobi earlier this week where a Kenyan magistrate ruled he can be held by police for four weeks as they investigate the claims.
Michael Rotich denies any wrongdoing, saying he wanted to protect athletes.

The Call For A Return To 4yr SHS Is Uncalled For – Mahama

Amid calls for a return to the four-year Senior High School system following the release of the recent West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, President John Dramani Mahama has jumped to the defense of the current system.
According to him, the “call for a return to 4yr SHS is uncalled for” as statistics show that students have performed better in the 3-year system.
The President’s official Twitter account tweeted a graph on Friday morning indicating better performances after the country reverted to the 3-year system.  The NPP administration under then President John Kufuor started the 4-year Senior High School programme  in 2007.

However, the NDC reverted to the 3-year system after they regained power in 2009.

Despite the argument by the President, the graph he tweeted appears to have contradicted his claim.

It shows that the two examinations following the introduction of the 4-year system, saw 26% and 31.2% – which is the highest since 2006 – of…

KFC Told To Stop Using Chicken Treated With Antibiotics

The company that owns Kentucky Fried Chicken is facing new calls to stop using poultry that has been treated with antibiotics. US consumer groups will deliver a petition signed by more than 350,000 people to Yum Brands.

KFC has already promised to limit the use of human antibiotics in its chicken by next year. However, critics claim the policy effectively allows for routine use of antibiotics by its chicken suppliers.

The chain does not allow the use of antibiotics to promote the growth of poultry in line with federal government rules. A KFC spokesperson said it was reviewing whether it could force suppliers to go beyond Food and Drug Administration rules on antibiotics usage.
"KFC is lagging woefully behind - diners around the country want KFC to step up," said Lena Brook of the Natural Resources Defense Council, which is one of the groups delivering petitions to KFC headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

The action comes a day after Yum investors submitted a prop…

Republican letter urges party to cut Trump's funding

More than 70 Republicans have signed a letter to the party's National Committee head urging him to stop helping Donald Trump's campaign.

They said Mr Trump's "divisiveness" and "incompetence" risked drowning the party in November's election.

The letter said that the party should instead focus on protecting vulnerable candidates in elections to the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Former members of Congress are among the signatories of the letter.

"We believe that Donald Trump's divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide," said a draft of the letter obtained by Politico.

"Only the immediate shift of all available RNC (Republican National Convention) resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP (Republican Party) from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck."

The letter added: "This shoul…
