Tulsa shooting police officer charged

Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby has been charged with felony manslaughter in the first degree, Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler told reporters Thursday.
Shelby fatally shot 40-year-old Terence Crutcher after his SUV broke down last week.
"We reviewed the facts of the allegations, it is our responsibility to determine if the filing of a criminal charge is justified under the law," Kurnzweiler said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Shelby and arrangements have been made for her surrender, he said.

Through her attorney Shelby has said Crutcher was behaving strangely and ignoring her commands, and she was afraid that he might be reaching for a weapon.

Multiple police cameras, including ones mounted in squad cars and in a helicopter, captured the Crutcher shooting on tape. In the video, Crutcher can be seen with his hands raised above his head prior to his death. He walks away from Shelby towards his car.

None of the video showed whether the window was op…

Yahoo says 500 million accounts stolen

Yahoo (YHOO, Tech30) confirmed on Thursday data "associated with at least 500 million user accounts" have been stolen in what may be one of the largest cybersecurity breaches ever.
The company said it believes a "state-sponsored actor" was behind the data breach, meaning an individual acting on behalf of a government. The breach is said to have occurred in late 2014.
"The account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords (the vast majority with bcrypt) and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers," Yahoo said in a statement.

Yahoo urges users to change their password and security questions and to review their accounts for suspicious activity.
The silver lining for users -- if there is one -- is that sensitive financial data like bank account numbers and credit card data are not believed to be included in the stolen information, according to Yahoo.

'Cocaine cash' masked an ailing economy under Kufuor - Fiifi Kwetey

Drug money that flowed freely in Ghana masked an extremely ailing economy under former President John Kufuor, Transport Minister Fiifi Kwetey has said at the governing National Democratic Congress’ Setting the Records Straight forum.
Comparing the health of the economy under the eight-year administration of Mr Kufuor and that of the Mills-Mahama administration, Mr Kwetey told journalists that NPP in eight years never had to contend with the “astronomical” public sector wage envelope that the NDC has had to handle.

He said while the NPP was dealing with an annual wage envelope of at most GHS2.5billion, the NDC “for some years now is having to find resources to take care of a staggering GHS10billion plus every year to take care of wages.”

“In fact, this year, we anticipate that the total compensation package is going to hit about GHS12 billion plus and NDC has still been able to manage that and still keeps the economy well in spite of these very huge challenges,” Mr Kwetey add…

Man impregnates goat at Atebubu

A 19 year old man, Yasaa Iba, resident of Atebubu in the Brong Ahafo Region, has allegedly impregnated a goat in the area.
The owner of the pregnant goat, Kwabena Nindoo who confirmed the bizarre incident to Kasapafmonline.com stated that the Yasaa, was spotted having sex with the goat by some residents, and fled when an alarm was raised leaving behind his bicycle.

Asked how he established that it was the young man who impregnated his goat, Mr Nindoo said, after the ‘torture’ the goat had been subjected to, he intentionally kept it in a safe place and never saw any goat coming near it until he realized that the animal had taken seed.

“After he raped my goat I kept my animal very safe, I didn’t want it to mingle with the other goats because of the agony it had suffered. No goat came near it in the period it was under my watch and so I have no doubt that it was Yasaa who has impregnated my goat.”

Mr Nindoo who was angry about the despicable act has made an official report to t…

HR Today: Why women shouldn't make tea at work

Although women have made strides at breaking the ‘glass ceiling’ at work, successive research suggests females are still lagging behind their male counterparts.

One of the theories accounting for women’s’ inability to be on equal footing with men is that females are not ‘pushy’ enough to ask for pay rises.

However, a new study has shown that females are just as likely as men to ask for a pay rise, but are less likely to get one, the Cass Business School and the universities of Warwick and Wisconsin have found.

So why is there still a disparity? Two successful businesswomen, Sue Unerman, Chief Strategic Officer of MediaCom, and Kathryn Jacob, CEO of Pearl & Dean, have written a book which aims to get beneath the setbacks facing women, and offers advice and strategies on how to excel their careers.

The Daily Mail has collated the main points, as extracted from the book, 'The Glass Wall: Success Strategies For Women At Work'.

Oxford knocks California Institute of Technology, the top performer for the past five years, into second place.
But there are warnings the vote to leave the European Union could destabilise UK higher education and hinder work with academics abroad.

The rankings show a mixed picture for European universities, while Asian institutions continue to rise.
The Times Higher tables rank universities worldwide on measures including teaching, research and international outlook - for example, numbers of overseas students and staff.
Editor of the rankings Phil Baty said it was "fantastic news" Oxford had come top, but the UK's vote to leave the European Union was a big threat to the sector.
"The referendum result is already causing uncertainty for the sector," he said.
"As well as some top academics reporting they have been frozen out of collaborat…
