Kumasi residents warned to stay indoors for Asantehemaa's funeral

The Asanteman Council has announced arrangements for funeral rites of the tardy queen mom of Asanteman, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Apem II but a rebuke issued is causing a disturb in Kumasi.

Residents in the Ashanti regional capital have been told to stay indoors concerning Thursday, Jan 19 from 8 p.m to Friday, January 20, 4 a.m to enable the confirmed authorities to performance the indispensable rites in giving the tardy queen a befitting burial around her journey to the 'village'

According to Manhyia Palace, the burial and good funeral rites of Nana Afia Kobi Serwa Ampem II, mother of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who passed in November 2016 at age 111 would go along subsequent to to area from January 16 -19.

She was enstooled in 1977 as the 13th queen mom of the Asante Kingdom let further to on 1695 after the late Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko II who reigned from 1945 to 1977.

"I am going to stay indoors because I am an African and I follow and love tradition. If that is what is coming from Manhyia Palace, I have no choice but to be wound up about it," one resident said.

"In Ashanti, we know they have their wealthy culture as skillfully as their rules and regulations for that excuse regarding this ban of not going out upon Thursday as the queen mommy goes to the village, taking into consideration I alive here I have no choice but to heed to that," substitute resident said.
