Curated to “create a hang-out for customers and potential customers to experience the Tigo brand and newly improved high speed reliable internet through exciting activities”, Tigo Ghana’s Blue Light District event came off to widespread reception at the Achimota mall in Accra on Saturday April 29.

The programme, an innovative move by the telecoms outfit, consisted a variety of exciting activities: a digital photo booth, a market with an assortment of items on display, table tennis and mini football games, as well as a thrilling FIFA 2017 gaming tournament.

The tournament saw 64 gamers go head to head across 8 game stations. At the end of a long day’s contest, Frank Adotey Kpakpo, also known as ‘WonderKid’ came first, walking home with GHS2,500. Yaw Boakye Amponsah emerged first runner up, receiving GHS1,500.

There were also prizes for Emmanuel Lawson who came third, and Kenneth Robinson Larbi, who came fourth. They picked up GHS700 and GHS300 respectively.
The night was crowned with a well-attended mini concert with dancehall singers Epixode and Jupitar as headline acts.

Starr FM’s DJ Vyrusky also manned the decks to keep energy levels high among patrons with his impressive playlist. Before the main concert, however, opportunity was given to upcoming musicians to display their craft. This saw a number of acts mount the stage to express their talent, with highlights being T – Rhyme, Kofi LIL, among others.

Tigo Blue Light District was sponsored by Ghana eSports Association and Guinness Breweries Ghana.
