Vodafone Foundation Empowers Students Through ICT

Vodafone Ghana Foundation, the charitable arm of Vodafone Ghana, has organised a 2-day empowerment camp for over 20 students under the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation Scholarship at Kwame Danso in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Participants were exposed to the huge potential Information technology (ICT) offers, how it can enrich their lives, and its overall impact on society. The participants were taken through some pioneering technological innovations from Vodafone including the Instant Schools platform.

Speaking on the session, Ebenezer Amankwah, Corporate Relations Manager at Vodafone Ghana made it clear that Vodafone always seeks to provide opportunities for young people.

“We are excited to share our wealth of experience and knowledge with the future leaders of our society. Our vision is to ensure empowerment for the youth at all levels and also encourage them to excel beyond their wildest imaginations. As a thought leader in the telecommunications industry, we have the responsibility to nurture our youth to positively impact the society; this mentoring session demonstrates our dedication to inspire the youth.”

Prof Baffour Agyeman-Duah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JAK expressed immense appreciation to Vodafone for supporting the initiative.

“We are grateful to Vodafone for joining our vision to provide the youth with selfless and effective leadership skills to address the challenge in Ghana. Their support will go a long way to enable us nurture change agents in our society.”

Participants were taken through an intensive practical session on applying technological solutions to address deficiencies in areas such as healthcare, agriculture, education, banking e-governance and traffic control.
