20-year-old man lynched in Tamale

The police in the Tamale Metropolis have discovered the body of a 20-year-old man suspected to have been lynched and dumped in a bush near the Tamale abattoir in the Northern Region.

The deceased has been identified as Abdulai Hamid, a driver’s mate and a resident of Kukuo, a suburb of Sagnarigu District. 

The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Yusif Mohammed Tanko said the police on Monday, August 21, 2017 at about 8:30a.m received a message that a body of a teenager had been found in a bush near the Abattoir on the Tolon road.

He said the police proceeded to the scene and found the deceased with bruises and blood on his body, depicting that he had been lynched.

ASP Tanko told Graphic Online that the police suspects that the deceased might had been lynched in the course of the night before the day his body was found in the bush.

He said according to the relatives of the deceased, the deceased left home about a week ago and all attempts by the family to locate him had proved futile.

He said the police have started investigations into the matter.

“So far as we are concerned, he (deceased) has been murdered without any justification and we will find all the perpetrators”, he said, urging the public to volunteer information to the police on the development.
