Four dead bodies retrieved near mining pit at Kwabeng

Four persons have been found dead in a river at Kwarbeng in the Atiwa District of the Eastern region.

The police have confirmed the incident.

Some residents are alleging the four were brutalised to death by the Operation Vanguard taskforce mandated to end galamsey across the country.

Operation Vanguard team is yet to comment officially on the incident.

Speaking to Starr News, a resident at Kwarbeng popularly known as Supa said the four were hired to a mining site at Kukuso, a community near Kwarbeng to tow away some mining equipment on Saturday around 7pm, however, did not return raising suspicion among family and friends.

According to him, a search operation was carried out and the bodies of the deceased were found in a shallow river. Bruises were found on their bodies with blood oozing from their nostrils.

The Kwarbeng Police have conveyed the bodies to the Kibi Government Hospital morgue for autopsy.
