Deadline for computer placement extended to September ending

The deadline for the senior high school placement registration process has been extended to the end of September, Education Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said.

The Minister in a statement Friday said the decision is to ensure that no junior high school (JHS) graduate with the requisite qualification is left out of the placement.

"The Ministry assures parents and guardians that no child who qualified to be placed in a public senior high school will be left behind," the statement read.

This announcement comes after three similar extensions in an exercise that has generally been fraught with several challenges among them is the inability of non-placed JHS graduates to register.

Already 424,092 students out of the total 460,941 who took this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have the school of their choice, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said.

There was an initial extension to allow those who were unable to be placed to do so

It is not clear yet how many of the JHS graduates are yet to be placed and registered.
