This year we present to you ‘The Diaspora Drive’. Diasporans are a group of people who migrate from their ancestral homeland to another land but maintain active communications between them. More than 3% of the world’s populations are migrants and although they are scattered globally, the technological boom has provided affordable transport and communication binding them more closely together than ever before. Over 180 million Diasporans across the globe come from Africa, and 12.9% are from Ghana alone.

The diaspora communities contributes more money to the continent through remittance than money received through Western Aid. Therefore it is vital that we continue to think about how Ghana can tap into the diaspora and allow them to contribute back home. What better way to support those coming back home, than to provide them with jobs and networking opportunities?

The Diaspora Drive will provide a platform for both international and local employers to network with potential employees. There will be over 20 companies from various industries that are actively looking for talent with international education and/or work experience.

Industries that will be represented include Banking and Finance, Investment, Hospitality, Medical, Agriculture, Food processing, Automobile, Telecommunication, Oil and Gas, Education, Logistics, Construction, NGO’s, Government and Insurance.

Additionally, there will be representatives who will provide support on how to set up a businesses in Ghana, how to seek accommodation, how to create a bank account, how to leverage on their network, immigration laws/options and how to seek investors for those who want funding towards their initiatives.

On Friday 22nd December 2017 we will host The Diaspora Drive at Level 8, One Airport Square, Accra Ghana from 1pm – 6pm. We will hear experiences from Catherine E, the MD for Platinum corporate solutions. Catherine is an entrepreneur who has relocated from the UK and is now a successful business woman in Ghana.
