Star Trek icon George Takei accused of sexual assault by former model
The latest sexual assault allegation in Hollywood was made on Friday against
Star Trek icon George Takei.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former model and actor Scott R Brunton
is accusing Takei of sexual assault in 1981.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brunton says he was 23 years old
when he met 43-year-old Takei. Brunton says that after a breakup with his
then-boyfriend, Takei invited him out for dinner one night. They ended up at
Takei’s condo afterwards for a drink, where Brunton said he started feeling
disoriented after the second drink and passed out.
When he came to, his pants were at his ankles and Takei was reportedly
groping his crotch and trying to take off his underwear.
Brunton says he decided to speak up after he saw Takei’s recent statement
with regards to allegations made against Kevin Spacey.
"When power is used in a non-consensual situation, it is wrong. For Anthony
Rapp, he has had to live with the memory of this experience of decades ago. For
Kevin Spacey, who claims not to remember the incident, he was the older,
dominant one who had his way. Men who improperly harass or assault do not do so
because they are gay or straight — that is a deflection. They do so because they
have the power, and they chose to abuse it," Takei said in a statement.
Takei is yet to comment on the allegations.
