Kwami Sefa Kayi crowned Ghana’s Journalist of the Year

Kwami Sefa Kayi has been adjudged the Best Journalist of the Year 2016 at the 22nd Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards.

The multiple award-winning Host of Peace FM’s Flagship programme ‘Kokrokoo‘ won the Professor PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year award for his hard work, neutrality and guiding principle of integrity.
 
He takes home an undisclosed amount of money and a three bedroom house.

Peace FM’s Flagship programme ‘Kokrokoo‘ was adjudged the Best Radio Morning Show of the year.

The award ceremony recognised over 20 journalists for their various roles in bringing out accurate and objective stories across the country.

Joy Sports Benedict Owusu also picked up the award for best Sports Journalist, broadcast category while Joy News’ Latif Iddrisu has received awards for Best Reporter anti-narcotic. He was also awarded for his role in the anti-galamsey fight. CitiFM’s Umaru Sanda and Bernard Avle, were also big winners on the day.

A special award was presented to journalists who played the frontline role for the fight against illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.

Peace FM’s ‘Asomdwe Nkomo‘ programme hosted by Nana Yaa Konadu won the Best Radio Programme (Akan).

 also won the Best TV Station in Political reporting.

Alice Aryittey, GHOne TV picked two awards for Best Feature, Education and Investigative Reporting.

Peter Kwao Adator, TV3- Best Health Report

Jamila Akweley Oketchire, Daily Guide- Best Sanitation and Hygiene Report.

Portia Gabor, TV3- The most promising award.

Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana won the best Talk Show TV, with Citi FM winning Breakfast show winning the Best Talk Show, radio category.
