Terry Pheto BAGS Mbokodo “Film” Award

International award-winning South African actress, Terry Pheto, wraps up the year with another accolade for her outstanding work in film.

This past Saturday, 9 December 2017, Leading Lady Terry Pheto bagged the FILM award at the 6th annual Mbokodo Awards created by Carol Bouwer Productions.

The Mbokodo Awards honour South African women who have made an exceptional contribution to the arts in South Africa. After extensive consultation with leading players within the arts, culture and heritage sector and having conducted thorough research, Terry Pheto was announced as the winner of the FILM category.

Quoting Gerard C Eakedale, Terry Pheto expresses: “Recognition is the greatest motivator.”

Carol Bouwer took to social media to share: “Asked to describe you in the adjudication sessions words such as young and so focused, driven, talented, gifted, magical on screen, beautiful, inspiring, humble and pure of heart were amongst the expressions used. Terry you make it possible for young girls to dream, thank you for serving South Africa in such an elegant manner! Pure magic.”

Terry Pheto’s Mbokodo “Film” Award win comes off the back of winning BIG at London awards this year. Terry Pheto was the biggest winner at the IARA Awards in London taking home the Best Actress 2017 award for her role in A United Kingdom, and the Best Actress TV / Drama 2017 for her role in the BET Nelson Mandela series. Terry Pheto also won Best Supporting Actress at the National Film Awards UK earlier this year for her role in A United Kingdom.

Fast becoming a globally recognised South African film icon, Terry Pheto’s craft and skill both in front of and behind the camera has been acknowledged and celebrated both far and near, and the world can expect a lot more from the Leading Lady in 2018.
