Eugene Cernan, last man to walk on the moon, dead at 82

Gene Cernan, an early NASA astronaut who was the last man to set foot on the moon, died Monday, NASA announced in a tweet. He was 82.
Cernan was the commander of Apollo 17 in December 1972 – the last lunar mission and one of the final Apollo flights. When Cernan stepped out from lunar module “Challenger” he became the 11th person to walk on the moon. His lunar module pilot, Jack Schmitt, was the 12th. But as commander, Cernan was the last to re-enter the module, making him the last person to walk on the lunar surface.
Cernan had previously served as the lunar module pilot on Apollo 10 and was a pilot on the Gemini IX mission.
Cernan logged 566 hours and 15 minutes in space, of which 73 hours were spent on the surface of the moon, according to NASA.

Mobley was only hours old on July 10, 1998 when authorities say her alleged abductor Gloria Williams posed as a health care worker and took her from a Jacksonville, Florida, hospital maternity ward. According to local reports, Mobley was briefly given to Williams because her family believed she was a nurse, while hospital staff believed Williams was a relative.

According to a new report from Oxfam International, 8 men now control as much wealth as the world's poorest 3.6 billion people

The men are Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Carlos Slim, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Amancio Ortega, Larry Ellison and Michael Bloomberg are collectively worth $426 billion, the anti-poverty group said on Sunday.
"Such dramatic inequality is trapping millions in poverty, fracturing our societies, and poisoning our politics," said Paul O'Brien, Oxfam America's Vice President for Policy and Campaigns.

The Oxfam report said that the richest 1% has owned more wealth than the rest of the planet since 2015. In the U.S., the richest 1% control 42% of the wealth.

The report said that seven out of 10 people live in a country where inequality has worsened over the past three decades. And over the past 25 years, the top 1% has gained more income than the bottom 50% put together.

Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh is working on a secret new project and thanks to the makeup artiste on the set of the movie, we’ve got a first look at the actor in a never-before-played role.
Chris Attoh will be starring as an albino in what looks like a war movie. The movie is also not being shot in Nigeria so we can’t wait to see what Chris Attoh puts together.

Journalist arrested for blackmailing women with nude photos

A 37-year-old journalist working with Coastal TV in Cape Coast is in the grips of the Central regional Police command for allegedly using dubious means to collect  nude pictures of ladies, and later threatening to circulate them on social media.
The suspect, Emmanuel Orlando Matrevi, according to the police, collects nude pictures from the ladies under the pretext that he lives in Europe and would want to marry them.
Such ladies, according to the regional crime officer Chief Superintendent Baffour Appenteng,   are then made by the suspect  to send their nude pictures which he  uses later to demand sex from them and threaten to leak them if they decline his request. Many ladies in the area have reportedly fallen prey to his antics.

Gambia President-elect Adama Barrow's son killed by dog

The son of Gambia's President-elect Adama Barrow has died after being bitten by a dog.
Eight-year-old Habibou Barrow is reported to have died on the way to the hospital on Sunday in Manjai near the Gambian capital Banjul.
Mr Barrow missed his son's funeral as he was advised to remain in Senegal for his safety.
Mr Barrow won the election last year but outgoing President Yayah Jammeh does not accept the result. 
The regional body Ecowas had asked Mr Barrow to stay in Senegal until his inauguration planned for Thursday.
Mr Jammeh applied to the Supreme Court to stop the inauguration but the Chief Justice refused to rule on the issue.

WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka dies at 73

Legendary professional wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, who thrilled fans for decades with his splash from the top rope, died Sunday from stomach cancer. He was 73.  
His daughter, who wrestled under the name Tamina Snuka, posted on Instagram with the hashtag #BestDad to announce Snuka’s death.
Snuka, billed from the Fiji Islands, had three stints with World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996.

Snuka most famously feuded with Magnificent Muraco. Snuka’s leap off the top of the steel cage in Madison Square Garden on to Muraco in October 1983 is among the most iconic images in pro wrestling history.

Security officer jailed for pouring acid on miner

A 36-year-old security officer, Mathias Anobre, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment in hard labour for pouring acid on an illegal miner.
The convict, who was also fined GH₵1,200, would serve an additional two years prison term in default. 
 The court also ordered the convict to compensate the victim with GH₵ 300.00.
Anobre pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing harm when he appeared before the Tarkwa Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Justice Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew.
Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court that, Anobre who worked with True Name Small-scale Mining Company resided in the same neighbourhood with Baba Musah, the complainant at Kadadwen Ashiba, near Nsueam in the Western Region.
 The Prosecution said on February 27, last year, from 2300 hours and 1200 hours, the victim together with Douglas Owusu and Issah Tahiru were asleep in a shed structure belonging to Tene Musah, Anobre’s girlfriend at Kadadwen Ashiba.
