Mexico leader cancels Trump meet over border wall spat

Mexico's President Enrique Pena Nieto said on Thursday he will not go to the US for meeting with President Donald Trump next week amid a deepening dispute over a border wall promised by America's new leader.
"This morning we informed the White House that I will not attend the work meeting planned for next Tuesday with the POTUS," Pena Nieto said on Twitter , referring to Trump. "Mexico reiterates its willingness to work with the United States to reach accords that favor both nations."
The Mexican president's rejection came after Trump said it was "better to cancel" the scheduled visit to Washington if Mexico was unwilling to foot the bill for a border wall.
Manuel Suarez-Mier, a columnist for Mexico's Excelsior newspaper, told Al Jazeera from Washington DC that Trump's ultimatum came as a surprise for the Mexican government.

WikiHow Apologizes for Posting Distasteful Image of President Obama, Beyoncé, and Jay Z

WikiHow found itself in major trouble after posting an article many deemed offensive. The website that gives how-to directions published a story, “How to Become a Congressman.” It was a pretty harmless article — but it an illustration made it all go wrong.

It appears that a photo of Beyoncé, President Obama, and Jay Z was turned into a cartoon. The problem is that all three were depicted with fair complexions.
Beyoncé fans drew attention to the image, and it soon went viral. WikiHow took immediate action and even posted a series of tweets to explain the unfortunate post. They said, “When we saw the whitewashed image of Obama, Jay Z, and Beyoncé, we were disgusted and ashamed. It never should have been on WikiHow.”
They also explained their editorial process, and said, “We learned it was made 3 years ago by a team of illustrators who work as one. One person sketches, the other person colors.”

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf charged during anti-Trump protest

Shia LaBeouf has been charged with assault and harassment after being arrested during a protest against US President Donald Trump in New York.
The actor and artist has been appearing in a live video stream called He Will Not Divide Us since President Trump's inauguration on Friday.
The New York Police Department said Mr LaBeouf was involved in a dispute in the early hours of Thursday. No-one else was charged and Mr LaBeouf has now been released.
During the incident, a 25-year-old man sustained scratches after a verbal confrontation escalated to a physical confrontation, a police spokesman said.
According to TMZ, a member of the public walked in front of the camera and said something the actor objected to.
Mr LaBeouf then allegedly took hold of the man's scarf. Police said he also pushed the man, who refused medical attention. 
The actor could be seen in handcuffs walking off with a police officer in the live video stream. He must attend a court hearing on 7 April.

'Sir John' to head G.P.H.A. as Director General

Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John is set to assume the vacant post of the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Graphic Online has gathered. He is to take over from Mr Richard Anamoo who was relieved of his post as Director General of the GPHA last Monday.
While a communication to Mr Anamoo relieving him did not assign reasons, many believed recent allegations of corruption made by some workers of the port authority could have played a role.
Mr Owusu Afriyie, who served as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) between 2010 and 2014 according to Graphic Online sources would assume the post in an acting capacity until a new Board of Directors said to be chaired by Mr Peter Mac Manu was constituted.
Mr Mac Manu himself was the chairman of the NPP’s 2016 Campaign team and also served as chairman of the party between 2006 and 2010.

Evangelist Kolenda arrives in Tamale for Bonnke Crusade

The main speaker for this year’s Reinhard Bonnke Gospel Crusade, Evangelist Daniel Kolenda has arrived in Tamale.

Evangelist Kolenda arrived in Tamale on Wednesday ahead of the four-day crusade which begins on Thursday, January 26 and ends on Sunday, January 29, 2017. 

About 600,000 people are expected to be attended the crusade which will be held at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
Evangelist Kolenda and his team were received on arrival by leaders of the local churches organising committee at the Tamale Airport.
The crusade is being organised by Christ for all Nations in collaboration with all the local churches in the Tamale Metropolis.
This is the first time after 30years that the Bonnke gospel crusade is being held in Tamale.

Venus and Serena Williams will meet in a Grand Slam final for the ninth time after the American sisters came through their semi-finals in Melbourne.
Thirteenth seed Venus, 36, beat fellow American Coco Vandeweghe 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 6-3 to reach her first major final since 2009.
World number two Serena, 35, saw off unseeded Croat Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-2 6-1 in the second semi-final.
Serena is attempting to win an Open-era record 23rd Grand Slam singles title.
It would also be a seventh Australian Open victory for the younger Williams sister, while Venus hopes to win an eighth major title, first in Melbourne and first since Wimbledon in 2008.

Prophet Walter Magaya of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) in Zimbabwe has apparently recuperated a man with shocking skin illnesses. The 24-year-old man recognized as Josphat Mwenye is said to have been experiencing the sickness for a considerable length of time.
As per a report posted on the PHD Facebook page, he was mended after Prophet Magaya laid hands on him.

Couple celebrate 70 years wedding anniversary, reveal secret to a lasting, happy marriage

Love birds, Dolly, 89, and Stan Izatt, 91, have been married for 70 years and have known each other for 74 years, and though they are all lovey-dovey now, Dolly reveals that she did not love him at first. The pair first met when they began living next to each other, but Dolly was in love with Stan's best friend, never Stan. Two weeks after meeting, Stan was already telling everyone that he was going to marry Dolly, but she did not want same.

Mexico: We will not pay for Trump border wall

Mexico will not pay for Donald Trump's border wall, the country's president has said in a message to the nation.
Enrique Pena Nieto said he "lamented" the plans for the barrier, adding that "Mexico doesn't believe in walls".
But he made no mention of cancelling or postponing a trip to Washington on 31 January to meet the new US president.
Mr Trump has signed an executive order for an "impassable physical barrier" and has insisted Mexico would reimburse the US for it.
Mr Pena Nieto said: "I've said time and again; Mexico won't pay for any wall.
"It comes as our country is talking on new rules on cooperation, trade, investment, security and migration in the North American region.
"As president I assume the complete responsibility to defend the interests of Mexico and Mexicans.

Kraft Heinz and Oprah Form Food Joint Venture

Kraft Heinz is now one of Oprah Winfrey's favorite things. The food company and the entertainment mogul announced Wednesday, Jan. 25, that they'd formed a joint venture called Mealtime Stories LLC, which will offer "ready to eat refrigerated products across multiple categories," which "will make real, nutritious products more accessible to everyone." 
Winfrey acquired a 10% stake in Weight Watchers , paying $43.2 million in October 2015 and joining the company's board. When Weight Watchers unveiled an ad campaign in December in which Oprah touted her personal weight loss on the diet program, the company's shares shot up 17%.
Kraft Heinz spokesman Michael Mullen said in an email that there was no connection between the joint venture and Weight Watchers.

Gideon Aryeequaye Asked To Step Down As Tourism Authority CEO

The president, Nana Akufo-Addo has directed the Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority Gideon Aryeequaye to, with immediate effect step down and handover to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister designate Catherine Afeku.
The decision is consonance with Section 14(1) of the Presidential Transition Act  2012 (Act 845), a letter authored and signed by the Executive Secretary to the president, Nana Asante Bediatuo stated.
The letter dated January 24, 2017 also asked the him to proceed to collect any terminal benefit due him relevant under the law.
“In view of the urgency attached to the matter, please ensure that you handover and cease to act as Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority not later than 5:00pm on January 26, 2017,” the letter said.
A similar letter was sent two weeks ago to former CEO of COCOBOD Stephen Opuni to hand over.
By law, CEOs of such institutions were expected to hand over power with the coming into power of a new government.
