Twins run shift in one school uniform - one drops out of school

They were born on the same day and shared a school uniform for a year but they are not Siamese twins, just twins who have had a lot of pain and deprivation thrown at them because theirs is a broken home.

Pushed to the wall by destitution, their academic performance suffered and, in the end, one of them had to drop out of school.
With their parents at each other’s throat, resulting in a separation, the two girls had to fend for themselves.

Irene Panyin Amoah and Irene Kakra Amoah, the two teenage twins of Twifo Praso in the Central Region, had to sell soft drinks and sachet water and wash plates for food vendors to get by.
It was 1.30 p.m. when The Mirror team arrived in the quiet farming community last Wednesday to listen to their tales of hustle.

It was almost closing time at the Twifo Praso Methodist Primary School and lines were hurriedly formed on the grassy and dusty school compound in an assembly to end the school day.

Kakra walked out of her Class Six classroom in the company…

Man shot dead after attack at Paris Orly airport

Two soldiers patrolling Orly airport in Paris have shot a man dead after he tackled their female colleague to the floor and tried to take her weapon, according to French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Witnesses said the Orly south terminal was evacuated following the shooting at around 8:30am local time (07:30 GMT) on Saturday.
Thousands of travelers were evacuated and at least 15 flights were diverted to the city's other airport, Charles de Gaulle. No one else was hurt.
Al Jazeera's Natasha Butler, reporting from Paris, said that there was a lot of confusion among the travellers.
"People didn't know whether to come or go. One of the terminals has been reopened and I could see some people wheeling their bags towards that terminal. But the terminal where the incident happened has been shut," she said.
The man, a known figure to French police and intelligence officials, had earlier in the day opened fire on a police officer during an identity check in th…

GIDEON OBIRI is a native of Kwawu Abetifi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He is 16years old and a physically challenged person who had one leg amputated following an accident when he was about 6 years old. He was admitted at Okomfo Anokye Teaching hospital in Kumasi.
At birth his father refused responsibility for him, so his mother was forced to live with his grandmother called Madam Akosua Esther who lived in Kwawu. But following his accident, Gideon's mother abandoned him at the hospital before he was discharged because of lack of money to pay for Gideon's hospital bills.
As fortune would have it, a woman by the name Madam Serwaa Bonsu, a native of Kumasi Asofia whose child was admitted in the same ward as Gideon, paid his medical bills and adopted Gideon as her own. The insurance company of the driver who knocked down Gideon however paid Gideon's compensation to this new foster mother of Gideon.
Coincidentally, around the same time, Madam Serwaa's husb…

Banned! No More Pinterest in China

Pinterest, the social media platform popular for letting users share, or pin, items of interest to a virtual board has now been banned, CNN reports.
Pinterest’s ban fits a pattern of China restricting access to sites that compete with emerging local businesses. Facebook, Youtube, Google, Yahoo, Twitter, are among high ranking sites that have been blocked in mainland China.
Greatfire.org, a watchdog group responsible for monitoring the censorship and accessibility of websites in China, said that the block started earlier this March.
The timing for this ban coincided with China’s annual National People’s Congress, a sensitive time in Beijing when their top leaders and thousands of other delegates gather to set the country’s political and economic course for the year.
Prior to this month, Pinterest was freely accessible in China, because its users typically didn’t share content that would rattle Chinese censors.
However, following the ban, a lot of users are forced go around the fire…
