Christian Dior and LVMH combined by French billionaire

France's richest man has made a £10bn move to combine the Christian Dior fashion house and luxury goods firm LVMH under the same ownership.
Bernard Arnault is the boss of LVMH, which runs Louis Vuitton and Moet champagne, and is also the main shareholder in Christian Dior.
Under the complex deal, the Arnault family will offer to buy the rest of Dior that it does not already own. LVMH will also buy Dior's high-end fashion line for 6.5bn euros (£5.5bn).
That will unite Christian Dior Couture, the 70 year old fashion label which has been worn by film stars from Elizabeth Taylor to Jennifer Lawrence, with the Christian Dior perfume and beauty business already owned by LVMH.
The move was welcomed by investors, who have called for Mr Arnault to simplify the structures of LVMH and Dior.
Shares in Christian Dior jumped about 12% and LVMH shares rose 4% on Tuesday.
Mr Arnault said the move would be an "important milestone" and underlined the confidence of his family group in…

BNI storms Lantey Vanderpuije’s house over stolen cars

Officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) have stormed the private residence of former Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuije at Aplaku near Weija in search of alleged stolen State vehicles.
Starrfmonline.com understands the MP for Odododiodoo is out of the country currently, but the taskforce met his wife who refused to let them in because they had no search warrant.
The outspoken lawmaker has confirmed the news to Starr Today’s Bernard Nasara Saibu on Tuesday.
“I don’t have a State vehicle in my possession. I returned the four wheel drive and I was made to buy the car [a Toyota Avensis] I was using,” he said.
He described the operation as “uncivilised and beyond the civilisation of this world… I don’t think it is the intelligent way of handling this thing.”
Mr. Vanderpuije added: “What is even annoying me is that my children had closed from school and they couldn’t enter the house because my wife had closed the gate and didn’t want to allow them in. It…

However, Belafonte - who appeared in court for the ruling - will now be allowed supervised visitation with the couple's only biological daughter, Madison. Belafonte - who filed for joint custody of Madison - will get two, four-hour sessions with the 5-year-old per week at the Ness Counseling Center in L.A.

Man hangs himself and his 11 months old daughter, on Facebook Live after suspecting his partner of cheating

In what has to be some of the most sickening video footage ever seen on social media, a 21-year-old father, angry after an argument ensued between him and his partner, hanged his 11-month-old daughter on Facebook Live before hanging himself at a deserted building in Phuket, Thailand on Monday, April 24.
In the clip, the young father whose name was withheld tied a rope around his baby daughter's neck and dropped her off the side of a building twice after he suspected his girfriend of cheating on him.

He then climbs over the edge of the abandoned building with a noose around his own neck only to change his mind about taking his own life and drags himself back up.

He then pulls his little girl dressed in pink back up too and lays her on his lap. She is clearly not dead. He ends the live broadcast with the little girl crying.

Moments later the man went live on Facebook again, with the little girl laid flat on her belly crying, facing away from the camera. Her father gives her a…

Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka was met with groans as she defended her father's attitude towards women at the G20 women's summit in Berlin.
The First Daughter was taking part in a panel discussion about female entrepreneurs alongside German chancellor, Angela Merkel, and IMF chief Christine Lagarde.
But the audience bristled at her praise for the US president.
The event is part of the G20 women's summit.
An audible groan went up as she told the room her father was a "tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive".
Mr Trump has been criticised over his attitude to women, especially after a tape of him making obscene remarks was released during the presidential campaign.
But Ms Trump said that although she had "heard the criticism from the media and that has been perpetuated", she did not recognise her father in the description and nor would the "thousands" of women he had employed over the years.
"He encourag…

Obama avoids criticizing Trump in First Major Appearance since leaving Office

Barack Obamamade his first major appearance since leaving the White House three months ago on Monday. Speaking at the University of Chicago where he was hosted to an event, he avoided criticizing his successor, disappointing anyone who was hoping for a clash between the ex-president andPresident Donald Trump. The highly anticipated appearance happened just days after Trump marked his 100 days in office.
In a nearly 90-minute forum, Obama laid out lessons he learned as a young community organizer in Chicago decades ago and vowed to help bring up the next generation of leaders. I’m spending a lot of time thinking about what is the most important thing I can do for my next job. The single most important thing I can do is to help in any way I can prepare the next generation of leadership, to take up the baton, and to take their own crack at changing the word.” Obama said. Obama, 55, reflected on the fact that when he came to Chicago more than 30 years ago as a 25-year-old, he wa…

"TV Stations Should Ban Profane Music Videos " - Joyce Blessing

Ghanaian gospel musician, Joyce Blessing has lashed out at secular musicians who produce risque videos to accompany their songs and wishes TV stations in the country would stop airing such tasteless clips.

She believes a ban from the TV stations will discourage secular artistes who have resorted to profanity in their music clips to discontinue producing ‘unwholesome works’ which is wrong in the sight of God and lead people astray.

Although she did not mention any names, she said she has had the opportunity to watch some of them and they were very obscene.

“It seems vulgar video clips is the in thing now. It is like the more indecent your music video, the more trendy you are. “While some secular musicians do very good videos, it is common these days to see virtually nude young women gyrating obscenely in clips.

“There are no more decent music videos from most secular musicians these days and it seems people are okay with that. It is amazing to know that even some great musicia…

Outspoken Emir of Kano faces corruption probe over 'financial misconduct'

The Kano Emirate has been summoned by the anti-corruption agency in the northern Nigerian State over the expenditure of the outspoken and one of the country’s most powerful leaders Emir Muhammad Sanusi II after his appointment in 2014.
The head of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhyi Magaji said on Monday that they are investigating complaints of “questionable expenditures and financial misappropriations”.
The exact amount of money was not mentioned but local Nigerian media had speculated an amount that the Emirate debunked immediately at a press conference.
The senior council official in charge of finance for the Kano State Emirate Council and also the Walin Kano, Bashir Wali said the emirate had only spent N3.4 billion ($11,127,520) since Sanusi emerged Emir in June 2014.
“The Emir Sanusi inherited N2.9 billion (exactly N2.895,165,43.77) – $9,491,120 – and not N4 billion as stated in some media reports,” he explained.
The Emirate Council is …
