Shark Tank's Daymond John Reveals Thyroid Cancer Diagnosis

Daymond John has had a cancerous mass removed from his thyroid. The Shark Tank star revealed during a sit-down interview withGood Morning America on Wednesday that he was diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid and has received treatment for it.
"I had an extensive physical and they discovered there was a nodule on thyroid," he told Robin Roberts.

"They removed it and it was stage 2 cancer on my thyroid ... I didn't skip a beat. I got some early detection and I understood that I had a challenge and if I attack it now, then I wouldn't let it attack me. I had that removed. I didn't miss anything, I was out partying and dancing two days later - not that I should of."

He went on to stress the issue that early detection is key in fighting cancer.

"But I wanted to share this information with people, because what would I have went through if I decided to just stick my head in the sand and go, 'You know what, I'm not going to check into stuff.…

Nicaraguan pastor jailed for burning woman to death in 'exorcism'

An evangelical Nicaraguan pastor and four followers have been sentenced to 30 years for burning a woman to death in a so-called exorcism ritual. 
Vilma Trujillo, 25, died in February after being tied up and thrown on a fire.
The group had denied killing her and said she was possessed by the devil. 
"The suffering that Trujillo was subjected to is something no human being should go through," said judge Alfredo Silva.
Pastor Juan Rocha, 23, plus his siblings Tomasa and Pedro Rocha, and Franklin Jarquin and Esneyda Orozco, were convicted of murder.
All but Orozco also received six years for illegal detention, although the judge capped the jail time to 30 years, according to local media. 
"They killed my wife, the mother of my two little ones. Now what am I going to tell them?" said the victim's husband, Reynaldo Peralta Rodriguez, just after her death.

Breaking!! Sports Journalist-Christopher Opoku Dies

Information reaching donkorsblog.Com has it that, one of Ghana’s top sports journalists, Christoper Opoku has died.

The former Metro TV Sports Journalist died Wednesday afternoon at a hospital in London, family sources have confirmed.

Opoku, who was once a GHALCA administrative manager, had been battling cancer for some time now and had been off the TV screens due to his sickness. His last stint was with Accra-based Citi FM.

Chris left behind three daughters issues and a wife.

Fifa ratifies nine African World Cup places

The Fifa Council has ratified the decision to give Africa nine automatic places when the World Cup expands to 48 teams in 2026.
The move was confirmed on Tuesday in Bahrain - the continent currently has five spots at the tournament.
A tenth African country will take part in a six-nation play-off tournament to decide the last two spots.
The Bureau of the Fifa Council made the original proposal of how it planned to allocate the 48 places on 30 March.
The expanded World Cup will feature 16 teams from Europe.
Fifa members voted in January to expand the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams, starting with the 2026 edition.

Farmer in police grip for butchering uncle

A 36-year-old farmer of Akyem Bunso, a farming village near Akyem Achiase in the Birim South District in the Eastern Region, is in police grip for butchering his uncle last Friday.
Kwasi Aboagye, the suspect, has since been placed in police custody at Achiase to assist in investigations into the murder, while the body of the deceased, Yaw Mensah, 57, has been deposited at the morgue of the Oda Government Hospital. 
Quarrel
Briefing the Daily Graphic at Achiase over the weekend, the Achiase District Police Commander, ASP Ernest Dzokuno, said around 7:15 p.m. last Friday, Mensah quarrelled with Aboagye’s elder brother in their family house at Bunso. 
He said Aboagye intervened and urged his uncle to stop the quarrel, but Mensah rather became incensed and had hot exchanges with Aboagye.

According to ASP Dzokuno, in the course of the exchanges, both men pulled machetes, with Mensah being the first to inflict wounds on Aboagye’s head and face.

A Zambian man named Hagra Tembo on Facebook shared this shocking video of a corpse that refused to buried until it took villagers to the resident of its killer. According to his caption, he wrote:
'A body refused to be buried until it took villagers to a house where the person behind the death of the deceased resides' In the video, the villagers were all shocked when the undertakers were seemingly being controlled by the corpse who turned them round until it led them to its killer's house. The incident is believed to have happened in a Zambian village.

Bugri Naabu Retract, Apologise For Murder Claims Against UE Minister

The Northern Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has unreservedly retracted and apologised to the Upper East Region Minister Rockson Bukari whom he accused of masterminding the murder of Adams Mahama.
Daniel Bugri Naabu in a letter written to Samson Lardy Anyenini, lawyer for the minister said his comments made on Accra based Radio XYZ and which have since gained traction in the media were regrettable and unfortunate.
He had 48 hours to retract and apologise for same after an ultimatum was issued by Lardy Anyenini on behalf of Rockson Bukari and he did not fail to apologise to the minister and his family for the harm and embarrasment his allegation may have caused.
The controversial Northern Region Minister made the headlines for the wrong reasons on May 8, 2017 after he alleged that Bukari and the Gender Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba were neck deep in the acid attack and murder of the Upper East Region Chairman of the NPP Adams Mahama in 2016.

The wife of longtime ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman died in a traffic crash in Connecticut yesterday Late Katherine Ann Berman was 67 at the time of her death and was one of two victims in the two-vehicle crash at about 2:15 p.m.on Tuesday in Woodbury. The other victim was identified by police as Edward Bertulis, 87, of Waterbury.

A source tells PEOPLE Affleck has moved out of the guesthouse at the family's Los Angeles-area home weeks after the actor and Garner officially filed for divorce, as the ex-couple work to make the transition as manageable as possible for their children.

Aisha Huang, 4 other Chinese ‘caged’ at Nsawam Prison

For the next two weeks, the Nsawam Medium Security Prison will be the home of five Chinese who are alleged to be involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
The five — Gao Jin Cheng, 45; Lu Qi Jun, 39; Haibin Gao, 26; Zhang Pen, 23, and En Huang, 30, a woman, also known as Aisha Huang, reported to be a kingpin in the galamsey business — were yesterday remanded into prison custody by the Criminal Division of the  Accra High Court. 
They were remanded by the court, presided over by Mr Justice Charles Ekow Baiden, to give the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) more time to conduct further investigations into the case.
That was after the GIS had requested the court to remand the five for one week, arguing that they would interfere with investigations if they were not remanded.
“Investigations are still ongoing and without the remand they will interfere with the investigations,’’ the lawyer for the GIS, Mr Peter Clever Nantuo, told the court.

Wikileaks: Chelsea Manning confirms her release from prison next week

Chelsea Manning has released a statement ahead of her planned release from prison next week.
The transgender US army private, born Bradley Manning, is due to be freed on 17 May, after former President Barack Obama commuted her sentence.
Manning had been scheduled for release in 2045, after receiving a 35-year sentence for her role in leaking diplomatic cables to Wikileaks.
She confirmed the release was going ahead on her Twitter feed on Tuesday.
"Freedom was only a dream, and hard to imagine. Now it's here! You kept me alive <3," Manning wrote, linking to a longer statement which referred to some of the treatment she had received behind bars, including "periods of solitary confinement, and... routinely forced haircuts". 
"For the first time, I can see a future for myself as Chelsea," she said. "I can imagine surviving and living as the person who I am and can finally be in the outside world."

Man arrested after breaking into 50 Cent's house

Police swarmed 50 Cent's Connecticut home on May 9 after an attempted break-in on the property. A man was arrested at the scene, according to reports. 
TMZ said that law enforcement surrounded the rapper's home. Police were reportedly alerted by someone on the property after an entry alarm went off, and the rapper was alerted around the same time that police were called. 
Because 50's estate covers 17 acres of land -- the home is 50,000 square feet in and of itself -- a squad of law enforcement in marked and unmarked cars were sent to investigate.

After dispatching to the property, police found a man named Elwin Joyce on the scene. The suspect, TMZ says, forced his way into the residence. He was arrested on charges of second degree burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief and attempted larceny.
It's unclear if anything was stolen.

Nigeria Chibok girls: 'One refused to be released'

One of the Chibok girls kidnapped by Islamist militants Boko Haram chose to stay with her husband instead of being freed, a spokesman for Nigeria's president has said. 
She was set to be part of the group of captives who were released on Saturday.
Garba Shehu told local Channels TV that 83 girls were supposed to be freed "but one said: 'No, I'm happy where I am. I have found a husband.'" 
The 82 were released as part of a negotiation brokered by the ICRC.
The government agreed to free an undisclosed number of Boko Haram prisoners in exchange.
The militants are thought to be still holding more than 100 of the 276 taken from Chibok, north-east Nigeria, three years ago. The militant group has also kidnapped thousands of other people during their insurgency in the region.
It is believed that some of those abducted have been married to fighters and had children with them.

Photos: Over 100 injured in gas explosion in Sekondi-Takoradi

Over 100 people are being treated at Takoradi Port Hospital following two gas explosions that went off Tuesday morning at the Sekondi-Takoradi road, the oil hub of Ghana.

According to Citi FM, eyewitnesses and officials from the Ghana National Fire Service, said the explosion occurred “at about 7: 10 Tuesday morning when a gas tanker discharging gas to another tanker exploded before the second went off around the Total filling station on the main Takoradi Highway. The injured included five firefighters among several others who were trying to put off the fire. The exact cause of the explosion is yet unknown.

Paul Pogba's transfer to Manchester United to be investigated by FIFA following a new document leak

FIFA is set to conduct an investigation into the transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United after documents displaying the huge fee paid to agent Mino Raiola got exposed to the public. The documents claimed that Pogba earns a wage of £8.61m, equivalent to £165,588 a week, and will receive an annual loyalty bonus of more than £3.4m from next year. 
Both his contract and that of teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic were negotiated by super agent Raiola, who would pocket an incredible £41m after bringing Pogba from Juventus to Old Trafford.​

Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin, ‘Rob & Big’ Star, Dies at 45

Christopher “Big Black” Boykin, half of MTV’s “Rob & Big” duo, died on Tuesday, his rep confirmed to Variety. He was 45. A cause of death has not yet been reported.
Boykin was skateboarder and entrepreneur Rob Dyrdek’s best friend and bodyguard, starring alongside him in “Rob & Big” for three seasons. The reality series showed the two in their day-to-day lives, filming such adventures as the duo adopting a mini-horse and breaking Guinness world records.
The show premiered in 2006 and ended in 2008, after Boykin had a child and stopped living with Dyrdek. He would go on to appear in several episodes of Dyrdek’s follow-up to “Rob & Big,” “Fantasy Factory,” as well as three episodes of Dyrdek’s other MTV show, “Ridiculousness.”
Before he was on television, Boykin served in the U.S. Navy. He also started a clothing line named after his catchphrase, “Do work,” in 2007.

Australian politician becomes first to breastfeed in parliament

Australian Senator Larissa Waters has become the first politician to breastfeed in the nation's parliament.
Ms Waters, from the left-wing Greens party, fed two-month-old daughter Alia Joy during a vote on Tuesday.
The lower house last year joined the Senate in allowing breastfeeding, but no MPs in either house had done so.
It followed a backlash in 2015 when Kelly O'Dwyer, a government minister, was asked to consider expressing milk to avoid missing parliamentary duties.
"We need more women and parents in Parliament," Ms Waters said on Facebook.
"And we need more family-friendly and flexible workplaces, and affordable child care, for everyone."
