8 dead in shooting rampage in Mississippi; suspect arrested

A man who got into an argument with his estranged wife over their children was arrested in a house-to-house shooting rampage in rural Mississippi that left eight people dead, including a sheriff's deputy.
"I ain't fit to live, not after what I done," a handcuffed Willie Corey Godbolt, 35, told The Clarion-Ledger

The shootings took place at three homes Saturday night — two in Brookhaven and one in Bogue Chitto — about 70 miles (110 kilometers) south of Jackson, after authorities got a call about a domestic dispute, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said.

South Africa: Jacob Zuma 'plans second home in Dubai'

South Africa's embattled president Jacob Zuma has been planning to set up home in Dubai, according to emails published in South African media.
The reports suggest deepening ties between President Zuma and the controversial Gupta business family. But the president's spokesman has dismissed them as an utter fabrication.
Pressure on Mr Zuma has been mounting in recent months because of corruption scandals, cabinet sackings and his handling of the economy.

Macron: Awkward Trump handshake a 'moment of truth'

French President Emmanuel Macron has said his clenched handshake with Donald Trump was "not innocent" and was a "moment of truth".
The awkward encounter saw each grip the other's hand so firmly that their knuckles turned white .
Mr Macron told French media he had wanted to "show he would not make small concessions, not even symbolic ones, but also not overdo things".

Liberia decorates Akufo-Addo with national award

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was on Friday decorated with the highest national award of Liberia, the Grand Order of the Most Venerable Order of the Knighthood of Pioneers.
The award was for his contribution towards the sustenance of lasting peace in Liberia and helping to set the country on the path to recovery. 
President Akufo-Addo was decorated at a State Dinner and Investiture ceremony held in his honour by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf at the commencement of his two-day visit to Liberia.

Grace Omaboe Heads 2017 Golden Movie Awards Africa Jury

Ghanaian legendary actress, Grace Omaboe has been chosen as president of the jury for the 2017 edition of the Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA).

The actress popularly known as Maame Dokono was voted by other members of the jury to be their president.

As president of the jury, Grace Omaboe will preside over all meetings of the jury and would ensure that the jury applies all the rules and standards set for the scheme to ensure that only deserving nominees win awards in each of the categories.

Gregg Allman, Soulful Trailblazer of Southern Rock, Dies at 69

Rock trailblazer Gregg Allman, a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, has died age 69.
Allman died at home in Savannah, Georgia, on Saturday, his official website announced.
The musician first found fame in the band he started with older brother Duane in the late 1960s.

1530 African migrants have died in Mediterranean sea - UN Migration Agency

The UN Migration Agency (IOM) said Friday that 1,530 African migrants and refugees have so far died while crossing the Mediterranean sea in 2017. Speaking at the daily news briefing, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, made the disclosure while giving the IOM report.
