2 Dead, 14 Rescued after 3-Storey Building Collapsed in Lagos Nigeria

Two people were feared dead while 14 others were rescued alive by emergency respondents on Monday after a three-storey building collapsed in Lagos Island.
NAN reports that a reliable source at the scene of the incident that it happened around 7.30a.m., at Daddy Alaja Street, Oke Arin on Lagos Island.

Lily Tugbah Off To US To Take Part In Scripps Spelling Bee

Winner of the 2017 National Final of The Spelling Bee Ghana, Ms. Lily Tugbah has left for the United States to represent Ghana at the 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee. The Scripps Spelling Bee will take place during the Bee Week from 29th May to 3rd June, 2017.

The competition, which brings together contestants from all over the United States and other continents, will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington DC.

Sulley Muntari’s father dies at 62

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has lost his father Alhaji Muniru, family sources have confirmed to Starrfmonline.com.

Alhaji Muniru died Monday at 62 years. He is expected to be buried on Tuesday in Tafo in accordance with Islamic rites.

Rebecca Acheampong, popularly known in the showbiz world as Becca was in Kumasi last week for series of activities. The “Na Wash” singer was in the Garden City to embark mainly on a “Menstrual Hygiene” education which took place on Friday, 26th May, 2017 at the Jubilee Park.
The event which has been held in a number of districts in Accra saw three schools come together at the Police depot (Tesano police depot school, Cluster schools at Tesano) and Dansoman(St Martin Depores, Star of the Sea and  Emmanuel Presbyterian school) respectively.

Rihanna’s crazed fan says he won’t leave her alone despite arrest

A man arrested for trespassing outside Rihanna's home this week says the run-in with police won't stop him from trying to track down the singer again, according to a new report.
Salmir Feratovic — who was booked in Manhattan early Tuesday morning for criminal trespassing — told TMZ he intends to continue pursuing the "Diamonds" singer, despite the arrest.

Policeman mistaken for armed robber; shot and killed by patrol team

A police patrol team on Sunday dawn allegedly shot and killed a police officer who was escorting an 'OA' passenger bus to the Northern region.
Identified as Lance Corporal Robert Kumi Ackah of the Tamale Rapid Deployment Force, he was said to have been mistaken to be an armed robber by his colleagues and killed near Dawadawa, on the Buipe-Kintampo stretch of the highway.

However, a mother, nurses and doctors in Brazil were left astonished after a baby started walking a few moments after it was born.

A 23-year-old motorcycle operator popularly known as boda boda in Kenya strangled his University lover and later hanged himself leaving behind a suicide note in the lady’s room in  Kisii town.
The young man has been identified as Samson Obwocha, a resident of Nyamage Village less than 100 meters from Kisii University.

Somalia's al-Shabab stones man to death for adultery

Somali militants have stoned a man to death after an Islamic court convicted him of adultery. 
Dayow Mohamed Hassan, 44, was buried neck-deep and pelted to death with stones by al-Shabab fighters. 
He was convicted of being in an adulterous relationship with a woman and impregnating her, despite having two wives, an official said.

Two people have reportedly been injured in a fracas between Police in Somanya and residents following the arrest of the alleged leader of last Friday’s chaos over ECG bills.
The youth of the Krobo town are currently on rampage and have, according to StarrFMonline.com sources, attacked and damaged a vehicle belonging to the Police.

Cannes Film Festival: The Square wins Palme d'Or

Art world satire The Square, directed by Ruben Ostlund, has won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
The Swedish title was one of 19 films competing for the prestigious Palme d'Or, in the 70th year of the festival on the French Riviera.
Prizes also went to British filmmaker Lynne Ramsay and director Sofia Coppola.

Fire destroys teacher’s 6-bedroom house in Eastern Region

A ravaging fire has razed down a six bedroom house of a teacher while in church at Somanya in the Eastern region.
The fire which reportedly started in one of the single rooms, rented to a tenant, destroyed several properties including, academic certificates, cloths and a cash amount of GHC10,000.

North Korea Fires Missile That Lands in Sea Between Korea and Japan

North Korea has fired a short-range ballistic missile, the third apparently successful test in as many weeks.
The Scud flew about 450km (280 miles) before landing in Japanese waters, prompting Japan to lodge a protest.
Observers say the tests indicate the North is making progress towards missiles capable of carrying warheads.

Eminem And Justin Timberlake help raise over $2.3 Million for Manchester bomb victims

With more than 80 million collective social media followers, platinum selling artists Eminem and Justin Timberlake helped raise just under $2.3 million in the last few days. A crowd funding effort started by the Manchester Evening News set a 24-day deadline to raise $2 million for the British Red Cross, both artists read about it and shared the link on their social media pages, encouraging fans to join them in donating to the victims of the attack.
