America’s Got Talent contestant Kechi Okwuchiis an inspiration. Kechi survived the 2005 Sosoliso Airlines plane crash in Nigeria that took the lives of over a 100 persons on board. She is one of the two survivors.
After such a harrowing experience, music became her escape as she lay on her hospital bed, bandaged head to foot, not being able to move.

Chelsea Manning thanks Obama in first TV interview after release

Chelsea Manning, the transgender U.S. Army soldier who served seven years in prison for leaking classified data, tearfully thanked former President Barack Obama for granting her clemency.
In excerpts of an interview aired on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday, Manning said she had not spoken to Obama since he commuted her sentence five months ago, but that if she could, she would tell him how grateful she was.

“There are different types of limitations – self-limitation, general limitations, spiritual limitations, economical limitations etc. Looking at Ghana now, there are different levels of limitations that we go through some come from the perception that I was not given the opportunity to go to school so I am being limited to do some things,” he said.

Actress Glenne Headly Has Passed Away; Was Shooting Hulu Series ‘Future Man’

Glenne Headly, the Emmy-nominated actress and originating member of the Steppenwolf Theatre company, passed away Thursday night at age 63. Her reps have confirmed this, but there's no cause of death to report at the moment. 
She was in production on the Hulu series Future Man, and the show’s executives were notified last night of her passing. Cause of death is still being determined.

Trump accuses Comey of lying to Congress

US President Donald Trump has broken his silence on Twitter after James Comey's explosive testimony to accuse the former FBI chief of perjury.
"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication...and WOW, Comey is a leaker!" he tweeted early on Friday
Mr Comey told Congress under oath he believed he was fired to influence his investigation into the Trump campaign.

Gospel singer arrested for defrauding members of church choir

Tanzanian Swahili gospel singer, Rose Muhando, was on Sunday arrested for defrauding members of a church choir.

According to Debora Mgiligimba, the police commander of Singida in Tanzania, she said the arrest was made after the choir members, whose money was obtained fraudulently by the East African singer, reported the case.

Ghanaian dignitaries including the Vice President of Ghana, Mahamadu Bawumia, former President John Mahama together with members of Parliament and other State officials were at the state burial of late Major Maxwell Mahama to pay their last respect to the slain soldier.

Hundred of mourners were also gathered at the venue to witnessed the late Major given his full military honours.

BECE candidate gives birth moments after ICT paper (photos)

A very determined teenager, who did not want to truncate her schooling due to pregnancy, managed to finish with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) paper, in the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) before giving birth moments later on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old gave birth to a bouncy baby boy at exactly 1:30 pm on Wednesday at the Wioso Health Centre in the Ahafo Ano South District of Ashanti Region.

Mary J. Blige ordered to pay estranged husband $30k a month

A court has ordered 46-year-old singer Mary J. Blige to pay her estranged husband, Martin Isaacs, $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support.

The singer filed for divorce in July 2016 after 12 years of marriage and insisted that  their prenuptial agreement waived any spousal support. She challenged his demand, saying that she had been the only bread-winner in their family and is burdened with more than $10,000,000 in debt.

$13 'costume' diamond ring sells for over $800K at auction

A ring thought to be costume jewelry sold for a little under $1 million at Sotheby's auction this week.  
An anonymous buyer purchased the ring for ‎£10 ($13) at a car boot sale, or an open market sale in the U.K., in the 1980s, according to Sotheby's auction house. The person originally believed the ring was simply costume jewelry but learned that it was actually a 26.29 carat diamond after Sotheby's appraised it several months ago.

A Kenyan woman based in Germany appeared in court Wednesday for the alleged murder of her German husband in September 2016.
The suspects, Armina A. a mother of two and her lover, Jan D  conspired and killed her husband, Ekkehart H while she was making love with him at their home in Ebersdorf.
German newspaper Bild reports that the court documents show how Armina A. planned the murder of her husband Ekkehart H, carefully laying down the plans with her lover who was identified as Jan D.

UK PM Theresa May fails to secure majority in Parliament, pressured to resign

British media are reporting that even though British Prime Minister, Theresa May won the election, the conservative party failed to secure majority in Parliament. Sky News reported early Friday that Labour held the seat of Southampton Test, guaranteeing that no party will reach the 326 seats necessary for an overall majority in the 650-seat Parliament. She made a terrible calculation by asking for an early election, hoping she would gain more seats for her party.
