India ministry mocked for 'appropriating' Spain border

Twitter users are ridiculing India's home ministry for using a picture from Morocco's border with a Spanish territory to highlight its work.
Alt News website reported on Wednesday that the ministry used the picture in its annual report to show that it had installed floodlights in border areas.
But the website said the picture was taken in 2006 by Spanish photographer Javier Moyano of the Ceuta enclave.

Death sentence for Facebook post amid Pakistan crackdown online

A Pakistan government crackdown on freedom of speech online has reached worrying new levels, activists say, after a young man was sentenced to death over a series of Facebook posts.
On Saturday, 30-year-old Taimoor Raza became the first person to receive a death sentence in a Pakistan anti-terrorism court for "using derogatory remarks ... in respect of the Holy Prophet" on social media.

Jurors in Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial told a judge Thursday they're deadlocked on charges the comedian drugged and molested a woman in 2004, but the judge told them to keep trying to reach a unanimous decision.
The panel deliberated about 30 hours over four days before telling Judge Steven O'Neill they couldn't reach a verdict on any of the three counts against the 79-year-old comedian.

Cheick Tiote's body has been flown back to Ivory Coast where a private funeral for the Beijing Enterprises midfielder will take place.
Tiote, who was a member of the Elephants squad that won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, collapsed and died during a training session with his Chinese club last week.
On Tuesday there was a memorial service held in the Chinese capital attended by family, friends and former team-mates.

7 people killed and 66 injured in an explosion near a kindergarten in China

According to CCTV, at least seven people were killed and 66 were injured, including children, in a blast near a kindergarten in eastern China today.

Two people died at the scene and five died at the hospital while Nine others are in serious condition. No children or teachers are among the dead.

Africa Youth Awards, the leading organisation that honours young leaders and achievers across Africa has opened nominations for the 2017 edition of its annual ranking of the Most Influential Young Africans.

2 women arrested in sale of 'coloured orange' video

Two women said to be involved in the artificial colouring of oranges with the aim of boosting sales, have been arrested by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), reports Myjoyonline.
They were said to have been picked from the Madina market on Tuesday. This was after a video of the act of a woman, colouring oranges went viral on social media this week. 

US and Qatar seal $12bn deal for F-15 fighter jets

Washington and Doha have signed an agreement for the purchase of F-15 fighter jets with an initial cost of $12bn, as US President Donald Trump's administration attempts to navigate an ongoing diplomatic crisis in the Gulf.
The aircraft purchase was completed by Qatari Minister of Defence Khalid Al Attiyah and his US counterpart Jim Mattis in Washington DC on Wednesday, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Two Ghanaian scientists, Charles Ofori Antipem and Michael Afrifa have emerged winners in this year’s American Society of Mechanical Innovation Showcase contest.

Their innovative portable science lab in a form of a mathematical set  by the two won the hearts of panellists and other participants,  to beat eight other pairs of contestants.
