Arkansas nightclub shooting leaves many wounded

At least 25 people have been shot at a nightclub in the US state of Arkansas, police say.

One person was in a critical condition, later upgraded to stable, but other injuries were not life-threatening. The youngest victim was said to be 16.

The exchange of gunfire apparently took place at about 02:30 local time (07:30 GMT) at a concert, but there was no immediate information about a suspect.

Malawi opens drone testing corridor for humanitarian efforts

Malawi has launched Africa's first air corridor to test the use of drones to deliver aid and other services in the region, according to UNICEF officials.

The air corridor is a result of the partnership with the UN's children's agency and officials say it opens up the possibility for "potential humanitarian" drone use in the southeast African country.

Venus says she's 'heartbroken' by fatal accident

Hours after it was announced that Venus Williams was being sued by the family of a 78-year-old Florida man who died following an accident involving Williams, the tennis star took to Facebook to express her emotions.

"I am devastated and heartbroken by this accident," she wrote. "My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and I continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers." Venus wrote on Facebook.

Bibi Bright, Toosweet Annan, James Gardiner unveiled by Zylofon media for the movie sector

On Friday, June 30, 2017, Ghana’s fastest growing media company, Zylofon Media made another announcement of the signing of five screen stars comprising Zynnell Zuh, Bibi Bright, Benedicta Gafah, Too Sweet Annan and James Gardiner.

Terms of the contract was as simple as “ABC”, these screen stars will be the first to mind when the company contracts any production house to shoot a new movie, series or even commercial spanning for three years and any further decision after the contracts have expired will be discussed later.

Dutch scientists predict that, by 2070, lifespan may increase to 125 years

In one new paper published on Wednesday in the journal Nature, Dutch scientists predict that, by 2070, our lifespan may increase to 125 years while beyond that, the sky may be the limit.

To prove a 125-year lifespan is possible, researchers from the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute team began their study by refuting the relationship between age & immortality posed by Benjamin Gompertz.

Man stabbed to death over drinking spot feud in Northern Region

Police at Chereponi in the Northern region are on a search  for an unemployed son of a subchief, Ibrahim Kofi, who allegedly stabbed a man to death following a disagreement at a drinking spot Friday night.

Community sources told Starr News the incident has sparked a tense climate in the district, already known for political violence.

The disagreement broke out Friday night out between the suspect and the deceased identified as Kofi at the mini bar over reasons yet to be known.  Owners of the bar reacted by driving the rowdy crowd away and warned them not to return.

GHAMRO And Media To Build Robust Music Industry

The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has urged  the media to partner it's operations to help build a vibrant music industry.

According to the board chairman, Mr.Rex Owusu Marfo, when the  media is assisted to play it's integral role, most of the challenges bedevilling the organisation would be addressed through education.

He made these remarks on Thursday during  a day Media Workshop organised by his outfit to build the capacity of the media on issues regarding the operations of GHAMRO.
