Tensions in Togo as anti-Gnassingbe rally turns deadly

Tensions have erupted in Togo after protests against the ruling Gnassingbe family dynasty over the weekend turned deadly. 
Two protesters were killed and 12 gendarmes were wounded in Sokode, 338km north of the capital, Lome, when security forces opened fire to break up demonstrations, the security ministry said on Saturday.

Missouri State Senator, Maria Chappelle-Nadal has offered an apology to President Donald Trump and his family for a Facebook post that hoped for the assassination of the President.
Early Thursday morning, the Democrat Senator wrote in a Facebook comment post “I hope Trump is assassinated!” referring to the Republican President over his reaction to the violence last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Ten missing after US destroyer collides with oil tanker

At least 10 sailors are missing after a US navy guided-missile destroyer collided with a tanker in waters east of Singapore, the second accident involving an American warship in two months.
The US Navy's Seventh Fleet said on Monday that the USS John S McCain sustained damage on its port side aft, or left rear, after colliding with a Liberian-flagged tanker in Malaysian waters at 5:24 am local time (21:24 GMT) as it was heading to Singapore for a routine port visit.

Indian court grants woman divorce over lack of home toilet

An Indian woman has been granted permission to divorce her husband because he would not build a toilet in their home.
The woman in her 20s had been married for five years, but had been forced to relieve herself in nearby fields.
Indian law only allows divorce in limited circumstances such as domestic violence or proven cruelty.

Father jailed for sucking daughter’s breast

A 38-year old taxi driver has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for sucking the breast of his 13-year-old daughter and inserting his fingers into her vagina.
This was after the court had found Alfred Boakye guilty on the charge of indecent assault at the end of the trial.

North Korea warns of nuclear war if U.S. drill turns to 'actual fighting'

North Korea warned Sunday that the joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises set to start Monday will be "adding fuel to the fire" of already heightened tensions with the United States and its allies.
An editorial in North Korea's Rodong Sinmun newspaper described the annual military drill as "reckless behavior driving the situation into the uncontrollable phase of a nuclear war,” CNN reported.

Beyonce's husband, 47-year-old rapper, Jay Z, finally talks about the elevator fight which was famously caught on camera when his sister-in-law, singer Solange, attacked him in an elevator after the Met Gala in 2014.
He said that fight was a one off thing, insisting that the unfortunate incident was not typical of their relationship. He said things are 'cool' between himself and Solange and that he considers her his 'sister'.

At least 18 people are dead following a taxi crash in Mzunduzi Valley in Pietermaritzburg‚ KwaZulu-Natal‚ South Africa on Sunday morning.
"We are not sure what led to the accident but the taxi crashed into the barrier on the main road in Mzunduzi Valley‚” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

Akufo-Addo off to Equatorial Guinea for 3 days

President Akufo-Addo, will, today Monday, 21st August, 2017, leave Ghana for a 3-day official visit to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, at the invitation of its President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The purpose of the visit is to deepen the cordial bilateral relations between the two countries, and explore possible areas of co-operation.
