Ghana to establish National Cyber Security Centre – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his government will establish a National Cyber Security Centre, as has been done in some other countries, to liaise with relevant state agencies and the private sector to oversee cyber security operations at the national level.
According to Akufo-Addo, the national identification system, the digital addressing system, e-payments, digital financial services and the various e-government initiatives in which Ghana is now taking so much pride, can be brought to a halt or undermined by cybercrime.

SA lawyers arrested in Tanzania for 'promoting homosexuality' being held 'illegally'

The two South Africans arrested for "promoting homosexuality" in Tanzania last week were being held in the country's prisons "illegally", the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA) said on Monday.
ISLA human rights lawyer Sibongile Ndashe and another South African lawyer were arrested in the Peacock Hotel in Dar es Salaam by Tanzanian police on Tuesday last week.

M-Net fires recruitment agency over racist job advert that reads ‘only whites need apply’

South African TV channel, M-Net has distanced itself from a “whites only” vacancy advertised at the company. 
The advert for a job at M-Net was posted online on a recruitment agency website and it reads; 'we are specifically looking for a white, English-speaking commissioning editor as this role is for someone who will produce soapies and programmes in this specific demographic'.

Accra-Bound Train Derails, Leaves Scores Injured

Scores of passengers were injured Monday morning when one of the coaches of an Accra-bound train from Tema derailed at Achimota in Accra.
The accident occurred at 7:40am just when it took off from the Achimota Train Station where it made a stopover to pick some passengers.
