The past is a place of reference not residence. You obviously become a weakling the moment you forget your past. You awaken the coward in you when you throw away your past. Significantly, you lose a fundamental part of yourself as you forget your past. After all, there were times in the past you enjoyed and thus, cannot do away with.

A reflection of who you are today is a dependent on your past. Take a cue from that wise man and make your past a strong motivation. Tell your past; "No matter how I have messed around with you, how excruciating it had been with you, you made me and you are making me."

When you forget about your past, it returns as a disturbing memory, and  when you do not know what to do, you loathe yourself for that.

What happens next is, unknowingly, you find yourself living there. However, should you remember it, it becomes your reliable source of motivation. Probably a "no-go-area" throughout your lifetime.

Don't forget your past! Embrace it. Keep it as a library, be that history student of your own life, where you can visit that library in the times where every path seems like a labyrinth, so you can learn from the old books of your lifetime. Remember, the historian does not visit the old book to criticize only, but to rearrange the lost steps for a new journey.  Forget but never forget. Learn from mistakes but never repeat them.

"In this bright future, you can't forget your past". (Bob Marley)

In effect, don't forget motivation comes from within and GOD is within. Therefore to sequel, motivation comes from GOD.
