Rawlings picks NDC membership card
The founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Flt. Lt.
Jerry Rawlings Friday registered his membership of the party in
fulfillment of a nationwide re-registration drive.
The former president completed the brief exercise at about 5:00pm at
the PWD Maintenance Unit ward of the party, Castle, Osu Alata in the
Klottey Korle constituency, Accra.
The 70-year-old Rawlings also paid up his dues up to the year 2020.
According to Charles Ben, Director of Elections for the Klottey
Korle constituency, the former president had indicated an earlier desire
to register but had to postpone it due to other engagements.
He said the simple process involved proof of membership; and in the
case of new registrants, proof or residence; production of one’s voter’s
ID card; and production of two passport sized photos.
The ongoing national re-registration of members will close officially next Wednesday, February 28, according to the party.
The present exercise to manually re-register members is intended to
replace the party’s biometric register claimed to have been bloated by
the presence of unverified persons.
