Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated government's keen
interest in young Ghanaian entrepreneurs seeking to make a difference in
their chosen fields of endeavor stating that all Young Ghanaian
entrepreneurs have government's unwavering support.
Delivering
the keynote address at a Youth Entrepreneurship Forum organized by
National Youth Authority, Commonwealth Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs
and the Ministry of Business Development, under the theme; "Inspiring
Youth Entrepreneurship", Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said as a
result of government's interest in building entrepreneurs, the
administration will continue to explore various ways by which it can
provide tax holidays for young entrepreneurs. On the issue of red-tapism
and bureaucracy, the Vice President observed that the on-going
digitalization of all processes at state institutions will help address
the age old challenge.
Conference Objective
The NYA-CAYE entrepreneurship forum is about bridging the gap between youth entrepreneurship, development stakeholders, financiers and beneficiaries. Government has made important pledges and promises to the Ghanaian people and entrepreneurs in particular. The pledges include tax holidays, efficient cost of doing business and ease of doing business all with the overarching goal of boosting production. The NYA is therefore setting up a one-stop-shop Business Centre for entrepreneurs and anyone contemplating a business. The goal of the forum is therefore to rally government institutions to come around the National Youth Authority's goal of creating a Business Centre for entrepreneurs who need to interact with scores of government institutions to make business decisions.
Topical Pointers for Discussion
The forum will amongst other things discuss topics such as young business owners' search for government assurance to provide tax holidays for entrepreneurs under age thirty five (35). They will also look at the nagging question of red-tapism and bureaucracy when it comes to taking the first step of registering businesses. The forum will finally consider the lack of affordable financing for expansion and start ups.
