Rick Ross on Life Support at Miami Hospital: Report
Rapper Rick Ross is currently on life support after being hospitalized near his Miami home early Friday morning, reports said.
The
Southern rap icon, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was
rushed to the Miami area hospital around 3:30 a.m. local time and is
receiving treatment in the cardio unit, TMZ first reported.
Law enforcement said a distressed 911 caller described him as having a
history of seizures. Ross is currently hooked up to a machine that's
taken over his cardiac functions after he was brought in unresponsive
and "slobbing at the mouth."
Doctors placed him on the life support machine Friday for ECMO, or
extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. The process provides
emergency cardiac and respiratory support.
Although
reports about Ross' exact medical emergency are not yet confirmed,
sources told TMZ that the "Hustlin'" rapper has a history of
heart-related issues. Initial reports described his medical condition as
pneumonia-related.
One family member claimed to several news outlets that the hip-hop star was not hospitalized.
