Photos: All Africa Music Awards 2018 Calendar Unveiled
The 2018 calendar for All Africa Music Awards was unveiled at Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra Ghana on May 21, 2018, in the presence of music stars from Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya and more. In its fifth year, Afrima has done well by placing African musicians first and including them in the organizational process right to the main day of the event.
Paramount among the various discussions held at the unveiling was the challenges musicians faced when trying to get their songs to the rights channels for marketing and promotion in the continent and other parts of the world.
Special guests on the night were Ghana’s minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku and Hollywood actor of Ghanaian heritage, Boris Kodjoe.
Lack of a vibrant African digital space for streaming of songs by fans that could generate money for the musicians, royalties, and the use music to unite the continent was not left out of the topics on the nights. Sarkodie, Dark Suburb, Becca shared problems of the Ghanaian music industry while 2Baba, Falz, Seyi Shay did same for Nigeria likewise Stanley Enow from Cameroon, Victoria Kimani from Kenya and Emtee from South Africa.
