Kwesi Nyantakyi resigns from Caf and Fifa top positions

Kwesi Nyantakyi, former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has resigned the posts he held with Fifa and the Confederation of African Football (Caf), reported the BBC on Monday.

He was a member of the Fifa Council and Caf’s 1st vice-president.

Last week, the 49-year-old was seen engaging in acts of corruption in the two-hour documentary, When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm, by controversial undercover journalist Anas Aremayaw Anas.

He was pictured apparently accepting a $65,000 bribe from an undercover reporter pretending to be a businessman from a Middle Eastern company wanting to invest in Ghanaian football.

Nyantakyi was among dozens of African officials exposed by Anas.

On 8 June, due to the documentary, the Ghanaian government dissolved the country’s FA.

World-Cup bound referee Adel Range Marwa was also filmed apparently accepting a bribe. A day after the screening of the film, Fifa confirmed that he will not be taking part in the tournament in Russia.
