American killed with Arrows by Endangered Tribe in India

An American man identified as John Chau has been killed by members of an endangered tribe in the Andaman and Nicobar islands of India.

BBC reports that the 27-year-old was taken to the North Sentinel island by fishermen who said the tribespeople shot him with arrows and left his body on the beach.
He was attacked by arrows but he continued walking.
The fishermen saw the tribals tying a rope around his neck and dragging his body. They were scared and fled
The Andaman tribe is said to be endangered, estimated to number just between 50 and 150, and they are completely cut off from civilization.

Making contact with the tribe is illegal because of the risks of taking outside disease to them.

Chau who was an adventurer had reportedly tried to access the island days before but was unable to, and his last Instagram post was captioned, “Adventure awaits.”
