#VGMA20: Kofi Okyere Darko To Host 2019 Ghana Music Awards

Ghanaian Broadcaster, Kofi Okyere Darko will host this year’s edition of Ghana Music Awards with the likes of Kwami Sefa Kayi & Jerry Adjorlolo .

The Starr 103.5 FM Presenter will steer affairs on Ghana’s biggest music awards night on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Accra International Conference Center.

Donkorsblog is not surprised at this development as  the ace broadcaster alongside "Chairman General" Kwame Sefa Kayi have played pivotal roles in the Ghana Music Awards concept since its inception.

KOD served on the selection committee right from its inception. He was also for a few years the producer of the Ghana Music Awards countdown radio show as well as the first red carpet show host.

It would be no surprise if personalizes who were highly involved in the success of the show right from the beginning are brought on the august stage since the show is celebrating its 20 years anniversary.

The likes of Doreen Andoh, Mark Okraku Mante are all expected to be highly involved on the night.

News circulated however in the media that Kwame Sefa Kayi had rejected an offer to host this years show, but the VGMA board has refuted these claims.


Kofi Okyere Darko has over two decades experience in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. He is credited with breaking the careers of many Ghanaian artistes.


He has managed the careers of the likes of Wutah, Praye, Daasebre Gyamena, Ofori Amponsah, and Tinny.

Darko has hosted and served on planning committee of shows including Ghana Music Awards, Nescafé African Revelations (in West and Central Africa), Miss Malaika, Miss Ghana and Miss Ghana UK, Kwame Nkrumah’s centenary celebrations, TV3 Mentor and Hanging Out With KOD on GHone TV.

The 2017 Exclusive Men of the Year ‘Most Fashionable Man of the Year’ winner owns celebrity fashion line Nineteen 57.

Former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien, Emmanuel Adebayor, Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton and Sonnie Badu are some of the brand’s clients.

He also won ‘Most Stylish Radio Personality of the Year’ at the 2015 Glitz Style Awards, and nabbed a ‘Male fashion Celebrity Icon of the Year’ at the 2016 Ghana Fashion Awards.

Darko is married to fashion designer, Ophelia Crossland with four kids.
