John Dumelo launches political ambition for 2020

Multiple award-winning actor John Dumelo, has officially launched his political ambition. The ‘Chelsea’ star actor is taking up the race to parliament standing in as representative for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency. He campaigns under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) banner.

Going by the teaser, ‘Taking Actions, Getting Results’, the parliamentary aspirant is of the notion that it’s time for change and as such concerned citizens should rally behind him for the ‘Dumelo for 2020 agenda’. He shared the official poster on his Instagram handle saying, “It’s time for Ayawaso West Wuogon…it’s time to listen and serve the interest of the people. It’s time for change…I John Dumelo, humbly ask you to support me on this journey. God bless you and God bless Ghana. Please follow the official campaign page for daily updates.”

The NDC affiliate candidate has being a major celebrity headliner for the political party during election period in past years. For the 2016 elections, John was among the few celebrity campaigners for the party and had disclosed on numerous media platforms that he would one day venture into the world of politics. Prior to his official debut in the game, John used his social media platforms as tool in addressing disturbing matters related to the governance of the country, aside promoting his movie premiere dates and ambassadorial deals.

On July 9, 2019, he joined thousands of Ghanaian citizens, who staged a protest demonstration dubbed ‘kumyenpreko’ against incumbent government NPP, for what they assume as poor governance on the part of the government. He is also popular for his agricultural and philanthropic works, which provides him the opportunity of creating jobs for the unemployed youths in the state.
