Body of 32-year-old South African lecturer found at the bottom of a cliff two day after she went missing

The body of a woman found by a tour guide on Table Mountain has been identified as that of missing Cape Town University lecturer, Sakina Grimwood.

32-year-old Grimwood was last seen leaving her Newlands home at 13:30 on Wednesday. She got engaged to her man on September 2018.

Western Cape Gangwatch posted on social media that her body was found at the bottom of a steep cliff at Platteklip Gorge on Table Mountain by a tour guide on Friday. Rescue teams used a helicopter to retrieve the body.

Spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said a post-mortem examination would be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The Pink Ladies, an organization missing persons, which had circulated information about Grimwood being missing, conveyed its condolences and sympathy to the parents, family and friends.
