EIB Election Hub partners Rotary’s National Peace Summit 2016

The Rotary Club of Accra, Legon is holding a National Peace Summit with flagbearers of political parties in Ghana.

The summit, scheduled to take place this Saturday, June 25, 2016 is in partnership with EIB Network’s Election Hub and the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Centre. It will be aired live on all the EIB platforms which include Starr FM, Kasapa FM, Live FM, Ultimate FM, Agoo FM, GhOne TV, Agoo TV, Abusua FM, Empire FM among others.

Former presidents JJ Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor are expected to grace the occasion which is under the theme: “Preserving a millennium of peace; our collective responsibility”.

The President of the Rotary Club of Accra, Legon, John Michael, told Nii Arday Clegg on Morning Starr the goal of the event is to provide an open platform where leaders will share their thoughts on the importance of a “peaceful, transparent, free and fair election and commit to championing same”.

According to Michael, “One of Rotary’s major areas of focus is promoting peace and conflict resolution so we had an idea of bringing the flagbearers together and not just together, but having them speak from their heart what peace means to them, what are some of the things they feel are obstacles to peace.”

He said the EIB Election Hub was chosen because of the credibility of the EIB Network to carry out stories to the “right audience”.

Members of the diplomatic corps will also be in attendance including Rotarians, government officials, the National Peace Council, the Electoral Commission as well as heads of security.
