Black Stars receive yams, cow ahead of Uganda clash

Black Stars players and officials have been presented with over 100 tubers of yam and a bull after they paid a courtesy call on the chief of Tamale, Gulikpe Naa at his Palace Thursday.

The national team is billed to face Uganda on Friday in a World Cup qualifier in Tamale.

As custom demands, the entire team honored the ritual of visiting the highly respected chief prior to their international match in the Northern region.

The traditional ruler took the opportunity to offer spiritual support to the team ahead of the must-win game against the Cranes.

Football lovers and the people of Tamale are expected to throw their weight behind the team ahead of the crucial clash.

Ghana defeated Togo 3-1 the last time they played at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

The team meanwhile held its final training session at the Stadium this afternoon.
