Woman, 102, ticks the strangest item off her bucket list - being 'arrested' and handcuffed by police

A 102-year-old woman has been ' arrested ' and handcuffed by police after officers granted her wish to tick the experience off her bucket list.

Edie Simms, of St Louis, had made more than 400 items including handmade scarves, bags and glass cases for seniors at the Five Star Senior Center on the southside of the Missouri city.

But Edie had never delivered them in person.

The St. Louis Police Department and the centre set up a trip in a police car with her homemade gifts - something she's wanted to cross off her bucket list, WFAA reported.

The centre's executive director, Michael Howard, reportedly said: "She was so excited that she can ride in a police car and she said, 'Do you think you could put those handcuffs on me?

"A St. Louis County car pulled up next to the police and Edie holds up her hands with the handcuffs on. She's just a riot."

Edie had never set foot in a police car before but said of the experience: "Oh yes, handcuffs and all."

She was filmed with her walking stick - and handcuffs locked to her wrist.

Sgt John McLaughlin said: "I've dealt with this program for almost 37 years now and the character of some of our seniors is just amazing.

"Here we have a senior helping other seniors and it doesn’t get any better than that for me."

She also celebrated with a game of bingo at the centre.
