BREAKING: Paris attacks: Call to overhaul French intelligence services

French intelligence services should be overhauled in the wake of the 2015 Paris attacks, a parliamentary commission of inquiry has recommended.
Various services should be merged into a single agency, the commission said.

Commission president Georges Fenech proposed a body similar to the US National Counter-Terrorism Centre.

The attacks in November 2015, which left 130 people dead, prompted criticism of the security forces' response.

"Faced with the threat of international terrorism we need to be much more ambitious... in terms of intelligence," said Mr Fenech.

Meanwhile the continuing state of emergency imposed after the attacks was only having a "limited impact" on security, the commission found.

Between 6,000 and 7,000 soldiers are on duty in France as part of the extra security measures, deployed to protect schools, synagogues, department stores and other sensitive sites.

"I am wondering what real added value they provide ion terms of securing the n…

Montie FM Sued Over Judges Death Threats

A Ghanaian citizen, Richard Asante Yeboah has sued Accra based Montie FM for contempt of the Supreme Court over alleged death threats against Ghana’s judges.
Two panelists of Montie FM, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn allegedly threatened to unleash mayhem on Supreme Court and High Courts judges if they make any judgment against the Electoral Commission.
Mr Yeboah in his suit, argued that “the two knew the contemptuous nature of their statements when they stated that the court can jail them and that they were ready to go to jail.”
He is therefore praying the court to “commit the two for contempt of court.”
“The comments are very dangerous and also dangerous to the lives of our citizens. I am asking that the Supreme Court apply the necessary sanctions, according to the law, to these individuals because looking at their conduct, one realizes that these comments were made deliberately and it was an attempt to undermine the dignity of the court. These individuals were ready…
