Spio-Garbrah visits 'Montie 3' at Nsawam Prisons

Trade minister Ekow Spio-Garbrah has expressed support for the jailed Montie 3 by visiting them at the Nsawam Prisons.

The move is his first gesture of solidarity with the contemnors since they were jailed by the Supreme Court. It is, however, unclear if the former communications minister signed the petition asking the President to pardon them.

Several ministers, have through the petition which has been presented to the president, appealed to Mr. John Mahama to activate article 72 of the constitution and grant a presidential pardon to the convicts.

The Supreme Court handed a four-month jail term to the Montie FM host Salifu Maase and his panelists Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn after they were found guilty of c
ontempt following a radio discussion.


Bola Ray hands over Starr Drive to Giovani Caleb

The CEO of EIB Network Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, has finally bowed out as host of the Starr Drive, which also marks the end of 15 years as the face of Ghana’s drive time show.

The fast-rising and hugely talented Giovani Elolo Caleb takes over from the boss man.

Bola Ray joined radio while a student at the University of Ghana. He moved on to become an authority not just in radio broadcasting, but in the entertainment industry as a whole.

He joined Accra-based Top Radio from Radio Universe, and moved on to The Multimedia Group, where he hosted Drive Time on Joy FM for 11 years.

After quitting Multimedia in 2014, he became the CEO of EIB Network - owners of Starr FM, Live FM, Kasapa FM, GHONE TV, Empire FM, Agoo TV, Agoo FM, Ultimate FM, Abusua FM and the Heritage newspaper.

He is also the host of Starr Chat and was a co-host of Starr Drive, until he decided to bow out on August 4.

Sasha Obama is working for the summer -- or at least a very small part of it -- at a restaurant on Martha's Vineyard.

Sasha is checking out customers at the register and bussing tables at Nancy's ... a seafood restaurant. Of course, the 15-year-old employee comes with her own entourage.
She reportedly was accompanied by 6 Secret Service agents, who gave her room to work ... sitting outside the popular tourist eatery while she put in her time -- about 4 hours a day.

This won't be a long-term gig. She's just working this week until the rest of the Obamas arrive for a 2 week vacation.

The pay, by the way, reportedly about $12 to $15 per hour, typically. Plus tips.


Gifty Anti moves into politics; considers contesting as MP

After years of broadcasting experience, popular broadcast journalist, Gifty Anti, is set to move into the realm of political activism from where she is likely to launch a career in politics as a member of parliament.

She said though she is “very interested in politics”, it has never been her calling but she is optimistic the situation might change, saying ” I believe I may have to start my political activism from now”.

Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise Thursday, the gender advocate said although she has not been seen in active politics, she has over the years been supporting women across the political divide in the country.

“I have a bigger constituency than going to be a parliamentarian where I will be restricted to a political party but maybe, I may consider going independent sometime,” Ms. Anti told host of the show, Winston Amoah.

RTP Awards PRO Quits Ahead Of Launch Tonight

Entertainment Pundit and Public Relations Officer of the Radio and Television Personality Awards, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has resigned from his position as the mouth piece of the renowned award event with immediate effect.

However his reason as stated in the resignation letter for leaving his position was due to the increasing workload from other equally important endeavors.
He adds that the role will not permit him to have the time and resources for the scheme with the same zeal, commitment and dedication he did for the 2015 edition.

He expressed gratitude to Big Events Ghana, organizers of the RTP Awards and all stakeholders.

Asamoah-Baido’s resignation leaves the position vacant just hours into its launch in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The RTP Awards was launched in January, 2011 and has throughout the years honoured personalities in the industry.


Nduom picks former Miss Ghana as running mate

The Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has named former Miss Ghana Brigitte Dzogbenuku as his running mate for the 2016 general elections.

Madam Dzogbenuku was crowned Miss Ghana in 1991 and is not actively involved in Ghana politics but she is a strong member of pressure group Occupy Ghana.

Madam Dzogbenuku is the founder and executive director of Mentoring Women Ghana (MWG), a nonprofit organization she launched one year after participating in Vital Voices’ Fortune/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership in 2008.

Wayoosi Is Responding To Treatment - Wife Speaks

Evelyn Owusu, the better-half of Kumawood Superstar Joseph Osei Kofi popularly known as Wayoosi has reassured fans his husband is now responding to treatment more positively compared to couple of days ago.

Speaking to Eugene Moratt of New Mercury Fm in Kumasi, the wife of Wayoosi Evelyn Owusu said the actor’s conditions is under control and could soon be discharged from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi by the close of the week.

Evelyn express gratitude to the public for their prayers which she believes is making his recovery quicker.

She told Eugene Moratt that, “he is responding to treatment, those buzzing the death news on social media is a ploy to score cheap traffic".

Obaa Abena affectionately called said the medical team is still working tirelessly to make him recover from his current situation.


One dead, five hurt in London attack

A woman has died and five other people were injured in a knife attack in Russell Square, central London.

Police were called at 22:33 BST on Wednesday to reports of a man injuring people with a knife, including a woman in her 60s who later died.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at 22:39 after a Taser was discharged by an officer. The Met said mental health was a "significant factor" in the events.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called for the public to remain "calm and vigilant".
Two other women and three men received various injuries in the attack, Scotland Yard confirmed later.
The Met's assistant commissioner for specialist operations, Mark Rowley, said the force's homicide command was leading the investigation into the attack, with support from the counter-terrorism unit.

Nduom to unveil running mate today

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) will today unveil their vice presidential candidate for the 2016 elections.

Ahead of the event, the party’s flagbearer Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has hinted the nominee is a female from the Eastern region but not a member of the party.

He told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM that the choice will give meaning to his 'all inclusive' and 'Ghana first agenda'.

Meanwhile, the business magnate has also predicted that the 2016 elections will go into a runoff.

“Absolutely, [the elections] will go into a second round. I am sure that if we get our things right there will be three pots and we will figure out at the end which three would move up.

“The NDC doesn’t have the good will to win...the NPP is also not as strongly organized to be able to say we are going to go and do our one shot deal, we know we have to grow, we know we have to work so we are working so we can compete,” Dr. Nduom noted.


Donald Trump insists campaign is united

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has insisted that his campaign is united despite reports of deep divisions in the party after he made a series of missteps.
Speaking at a rally in Florida, Mr Trump said the campaign was "doing really well".
US media outlets said it was in turmoil after Mr Trump repeatedly attacked parents of a fallen US soldier. Staffers told CNN that they "feel like they are wasting their time".

"I just want to tell you the campaign is doing really well," the nominee said in Daytona Beach.
"It's never been so well united... I would say right now it's the best in terms of being united that it's been since we began."
Earlier Mr Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort blamed reports of disunity on Mr Trump's opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton.
