GFA Boss Nyantakyi Sues Songo & Abatay

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has slapped two sports presenters Patrick Osei- Agyemang and Kofi Asare Brako as well as their media outfit Multimedia Group Limited with a gargantuan defamation lawsuit.

The GFA boss is suing the two controversial figures nicknamed 'Countryman Songo' and 'Abatay' respectively and their media outfit for $2m in the defamation and libel lawsuit after 'years of consistent lies and calculated negative campaigns'.

This comes just two weeks after three journalists were jailed in Ghana to threatening some judges in the country on their radio station Montie FM.

The two presenters and Multimedia Group Limited, the holding company of Asempa FM, have been served with the comprehensive lawsuit.

The presenters and their media company are required by the court to file their witness statements by the end of the month after Nyantakyi produced over 100 recordings of lies calculated to defame him and the football federation.

2016 WASSCE Results Out; 1,576 Results Cancelled

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has released provisional results for the 2016 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

A statement signed by Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, said 1,576 candidates had some of their subjects results cancelled, while  598 candidates had their entire results cancelled.

Reports of widespread leakages in the examinations compelled WAEC to tighten its security measures.

At least three papers according to WAEC, were “compromised”, but the council did not cancel any of the papers when the issue emanated.

The statement also noted that, “the general performance for the 2016 is significant improvement over that of 2015.”

WAEC said though it is in the process of dispatching the results to the various candidates “those who desire, may access their results at the Council’s website.”

They were obviously in the spirit and perhaps did not notice that time was up for organisers to draw down the curtains for the third edition of the Tehillah Experience.Some people at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Calvary Temple, Spintex where the event was held refused to go home insisting that Ohemaa Mercy kept on with the song ministration because they were prepared to enjoy the tunes and worship their maker till the next morning.

Michael Essien Starts Work As Football Pundit On Saudi TV (Photo)

Chelsea and Ghana legend Michael Essien has started a new career in football as a pundit as he made his debut on Monday night during the Saudi Super Cup between Al Ahli and Al Hilal played in London.

The former Ghana international joined the panel on set for Saudi-based MBC Sports in a makeshift studio built at Craven Cottage.
This is the first time Essien has worked as a pundit and the industry in the Arab and Europe region is hugely lucrative. Some pundits earn as much as £5,000 per appearance on match days.

Essien could land more jobs as a pundit in the Gulf region particularly Al Jazeera Sports which offers jobs for former footballers like Marcel Desailly and George Weah. He could also be considered by continental broadcasters SuperSports in South Africa as well as SkySports and BT Sport in the UK

OFFICIAL: Berla Mundi is new host of Miss Malaika Ghana

Media Personality Berla Mundi is the new host of Beauty pageant and reality show, Miss Malaika Ghana.

Mundi takes over from Naa Ashorkor, who held the fort for six years.

The Live FM Presenter was a delegate in the reality show in 2010, and ended up as the 2nd runner-up at the end of the competition.

This season will run for 10 weeks.

Production Executives say Berla Mundi brings to the show an entirely different feel, which would steer the brand to greater heights.

It is a new career feat for Mundi, who was recently outdoored as Face of Woodin's Fusion and new Ready-To-Wear collection.

Nigeria anger over blogger Abubakar Sidiq Usman's arrest

Nigerians have reacted angrily to the arrest of a prominent news blogger by the anti-corruption agency for "offences bordering on cyber-stalking". 
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had abused it powers by arresting Abubakar Sidiq Usman, the governing party's youth wing said.

His followers have launched a #FreeAbusidiq campaign on Twitter.
Last week, Mr Usman published allegations that EFCC acting chairman Ibrahim Magu was bullying his staff.
Mr Usman is an extremely popular blogger and the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) has also said it is deeply concerned about his arrest, reports the BBC's Nasidi Yahaya from the capital, Abuja.
He is a strong backer of President Muhammadu Buhari, and a founding member of the youth wing of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

Man Butchers Brother In-law

DAILY GUIDE has gathered that, a man by name Ofosu, 30, a farmer has allegedly butchered his brother-in-law, Kwaku Dada at Akyem-Pankese near Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region, at the dawn of Monday by mistakenly thinking he was his rival.
An eye witness who is also the landlady of Akosua, the farmer’s girlfriend speaking on Agoo Fm, an Nkawkaw based radio station, narrated that Ofosu was Akosua’s boyfriend but due to some misunderstanding between them, Ofosu sacked her from his house forcing the girl to rent an abode to stay in.

According to the landlady, sometime after the separation, Ofosu suspected Akosua of seeing another man so on that fateful morning, he sneaked into Akosua’s room and upon entering the room he spotted a gentleman and butchered him brutally and fled. The victim, unfortunately, was his brother in-law that he mistook for a rival.

Hanna Tetteh signs 'Montie 3' petition

Foreign Affairs minister Hanna Tetteh has signed the petition asking President John Mahama to pardon the ‘Montie three’ who have been jailed for contempt.

Her signing Tuesday comes after media reports suggested that she had shied away from the petition, which has already seen the signatures of several of her colleague ministers.

Notable among the ministers who have signed the petition are Education minister Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and Gender minister Nana Oye Lithur.

The three, including a radio host at Montie FM Salifu Maase, popularly known as Mugabe, were last month slapped with a four-month jail term for scandalizing the court.

Meanwhile, the president, through the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, has presented the petition presented by lawyers of the contemnors to the Council of State for their advice on the way forward.

Turkey's President Erdogan in St Petersburg to 'reset' Russia ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is due to hold talks in St Petersburg with President Vladimir Putin and says he wants to "reset" ties with Russia.
It is Mr Erdogan's first foreign visit since an attempted coup last month.
Relations between the two countries were plunged into crisis last year when Turkey shot down a Russian military jet on the Syrian border.
The visit comes as Turkey's ties with the West have cooled over criticism of a crackdown on alleged coup-plotters.

Before leaving Turkey, Mr Erdogan referred to President Putin as his "friend" and said he wanted to open a new page in relations with Russia.

Andre Ayew: West Ham United sign Swansea City striker for £20.5m

West Ham United have completed the signing of forward Andre Ayew from Swansea City for £20.5m.
Ayew, 26, signed for Swansea on a free transfer from Marseille in June 2015 and scored 12 goals in his first Premier League season.
The Ghana international won the BBC African Player of the Year in 2011 and signs a four-year deal to become West Ham's record signing.

"The club have a lot of ambition and have a great manager," said Ayew.
"They want to become a bigger club every year and with the new stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving on to another level and I want to be part of this project."

Flagstaff House hopeful Nana Akufo-Addo has promised to fix the power crisis in the country if he is elected President in the December 7 polls.

According to him, the Mahama-led administration is embarrassed to admit that the power crisis still prevails in spite of the numerous assurances by the President.

Ghana has been reeling under severe power crisis for some time now. Even though the situation appears to have eased up, there is often uncertainty about the supply of power among Ghanaians.

Man, 27, defiles girl, 13

A-27-year-old trader has been dragged before an Accra circuit court for allegedly defiling a 13-year- old girl.
The accused, Isaac Okwan, is reported to have had sex with the victim (name with­held) in his container store at Medie near Amasaman, in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the prosecu­tion led by Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbiri, the accused committed the offence at about in June this year.

Before trial judge Abena Oppong Adjin-Deku, Isaac Okwan denied the charges and was remanded into police custody until August 22, 2016.
