British actor Kenny Baker, of Star Wars fame, dies aged 81

Kenny Baker, the British actor best known as R2-D2 in the "Star Wars" films, has died at the age of 81, according to his niece, Abigail Shield. 
Baker was being looked after by Shield's brother, who found him Saturday morning. Shield said Baker had been ill for the past two years with a lung condition.

She also said her uncle -- who was 3 feet, 8 inches tall -- did not expect to "live past his teenage years because he was a 'little person,' so it is pretty amazing he lived this long."

Baker was best known for the robot character he first played in 1977's original "Star Wars."

"I have had a fairly quiet year, and when the sunshine has allowed I have enjoyed the peace and tranquility of my garden," Baker wrote on his website.

He was fondly remembered on social media Saturday.

Donnie McClurkin Announces Engagement to Nicole C Mullen

Donnie McClurkin was the musical guest on TBN's long-running "Praise the Lord" ministry show Thursday night where it was revealed that he and Nicole C. Mullen are getting married.
Matt Crouch and his wife, Laurie, were joined on the show by guests A.R. Bernard and McClurkin where the former revealed that he would be giving McClurkin marriage counseling in the near future.
Rumors that McClurkin and Mullen were dating started circulating after the two attended this year's Stellar Awards together. But the gospel singers never made an official announcement about their romance until Thursday's episode of "Praise the Lord."
Bernard hinted at McClurkin's engagement during a discussion about his new book, What Women Want From Men. Crouch then stood up and announced that the 56-year-old "We Fall Down" singer and Perfecting Faith Church pastor is, in fact, on course to getting married.

Information reaching suggests that one of the models who featured in a video for Obrafour’s recent single Pimpinaa, is dead.
Belinda Asiamah died in the early evening of today, Friday August 12.

According to sources, she complained of stomach pain in the morning.

Belinda was in her early twenties, friends say.

Wayoosi discharged from the hospital

Ghanaian actor Joseph Osei well known as Wayoosi has been discharged from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where he was receiving treatment.

Exclusive information available to indicates that the actor who is doing pretty better than earlier reported was discharged on the Thursday night of August 11 but left the facility the morning of Friday August 12 2016.

This development comes few days after Wayoosi broke his silence on media reports that allegedly suggested he had passed on at the hospital.

It is unknown what exactly is wrong with Wayoosi but close sources indicate the artist is suffering from a kidney related disease.

Renowned Nigerian “Baby” comedian Emmanuella Samuel, has revealed that one of her biggest dreams is to meet with Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama as well the leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo .

Lionel Messi reverses decision to quit Argentina team

Star striker Lionel Messi will return to play for the Argentine national football team for the "love" of his country, reversing his decision in June to retire from international football.

The Barcelona forward had previously said he would not play for Argentina again following the team's loss to Chile in the final of the Copa America in the US.

However, in a statement on Friday, Messi explained that he wanted to continue representing his country as he preferred "to help from within".

"I consider there to be a lot of problems in Argentine football and it's not my intention to create another one," the 29-year-old said.

"There are a lot of issues that need to be resolved in Argentine football but I prefer to help from within and not to criticise from the outside. A lot of things went through my mind on the night of the final and I gave serious thought to quitting but my love for my country and this shirt is too great."

IS leader in Afghanistan killed, US believes

Hafiz Saeed Khan, leader of so-called Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan and Pakistan, died in a US drone strike last month, the US believes.
Last year, the Afghan intelligence agency said it believed Saeed Khan had died in a drone attack in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar.
However, IS insisted its leader had survived that attack.
On Friday, the US said he had been killed in a new drone attack in Nangarhar's Achin district on 26 July.
The drone strike was carried out three days after IS carried out its most devastating attack in Afghanistan, killing 80 people and wounding 230 at a rally of Shia Muslims from the Hazara minority in the capital Kabul. IS, a Sunni Muslim group, regards Shia as heretics.
