'Mahama Will Regret Freeing Montie 3' ...

Director of Communication of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is predicting a political Armageddon for President Mahama for freeing Montie three serving four months jail term for scandalising the Supreme Court.

The President in a statement signed by Communications Minister, Edward Omane-Boamah granted a remission of sentence to the three on ‘compassionate grounds’.

President Mahama in consultation with the Council of State and in exercise of his constitutional powers under Article 72 of the Constitution remitted the remaining prison sentence imposed on three persons: Salifu Maase (alias Mugabe), Alistair Nelson and Ako Gunn who were sentenced to four months imprisonment and a fine of GHȻ10,000.00 each for contempt of court. The remission is effective 26th August 2016

Apple paid me over $20,000 as settlement fee - Atom

It is no news that many corporate organizations and outfits take advantage of the works of Musicians without first contacting them.

Not long ago, Apple company played Atom’s “Y3 wo krom” track at one of their conferences without first contacting the artiste. The news got on social media before Atom himself even got to know of it.

Speaking on the AM Pluzz show with Sammy Flex, Atom revealed that he followed the social media post, contacted Apple company and had a deal with them for using his work without his permission.
According to Atom, he contacted his lawyer to take the issue up and eventually they got Apple to settle them with more than $20,000. “Apple paid me between $20,000 and $50,000 for using my song without first contacting me,” He said.

He further revealed that the entire process of the settlement between himself and Apple took 45 days.

Touching on other matters, Atom disclosed his Europe tour which started from France, Denmark, Germany, Holland and ended up in Belgium…

Former Singapore President dead at 92

Former Singaporean President S R Nathan died Mondayat the age of 92, according to a statement from the country's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong.  Three weeks ago, Nathan had suffered a stroke, Loong said.According to Reuters, the stroke was his second in recent years, with the latest having placed him in critical condition.  Nathan, who held office from 1999 to 2011, was the longest-serving president of Singapore, according to Loong. The Prime Minister described Nathan as a "warm and approachable" leader who "impressed visitors with his knowledge of world affairs, and served with dignity and distinction." "He was a true son of Singapore," Loong added. V/R: Teacher, 25, arrested for killing 5-year-old boy

A 25-year-old pupil teacher, Atigah Koame Agbessi is the grips of the Akatsi Police in the Volta region for allegedly murdering a 5-year-old boy in the area.

According to a Starr News source, the suspect who reportedly carried out the act at Anta-Estate a suburb of Akatsi, was in process of burying the victim, Monday morning when he was seen by a passer-by removing the body from a sack.

The passer-by immediately raised an alarm which led to the arrest of the suspect by some residents who rushed to the scene and handed him over to the police, Starr News gathered.

The boy identified as Prince Ahiatrogah was a kindergarten pupil at Akatsi R.C Basic School and his body has been deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy.

Superintendent Dennis Fiakpui, the Akatsi district Police commander confirmed the incident to Starr News’ Lambert Atsivor and said investigations has commenced into the incident.

Doctors confirm late model Belinda Asiamah did not die from abortion

Late Ghanaian model and video vixen, Belinda Asiamah died from complications from an ectopic surgery,’s investigations can confirm.
Sources at the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) have debunked rumours that the model died from complications resulting from a failed abortion.
The late model, hospital sources have told, was referred from the University of Ghana Hospital, where she had undergone the surgery, on Thursday, August 11.

She arrived at Korle Bu around 5pm that Thursday but passed away the following day while on Life Support.
Doctors explained that Belinda’s ectopic pregnancy, a pregnancy in which the foetus develops outside the womb, typically in a fallopian tube, is not new but it was necessary to undertake the procedure to save her life.

Robber Stoned To Death

A suspected robber has reportedly been stoned to death by his captors at Tafo, a suburb of Kumasi.
He was said to be among a group of robbers who invaded Tafo to rob innocent people of their valuables at about12:30 am Saturday.

Some people in the area reportedly detected the heinous activities of the robbers and blew an alarm, which attracted the attention of a huge crowd.
The deceased robber, whose name was not known, was not fast enough as his colleagues escaped and left him behind during a wild chase.
The robber, who was wielding a sharp knife, was said to have used it to injured two of his pursuers in an attempt to free himself and flee.
But other people around managed to snatch the knife from him to avert further injuries.
Perhaps the injuries that the robber inflicted on the two people incensed the other youth and so they allegedly stoned him until he gave up the ghost.

A Nigerian man living in Indonesia, Izuchukwu F. Ezimoha, who was recently executed by the Indonesian government for allegedly dealing in drug trafficking has been laid to rest.

Ezimoha was among the three Nigerians executed in Indonesia for alleged drug trafficking.

They were put to death after midnight on Thursday, while 10 others had been slated for the same crimes but escaped death.Ezimoha was buried in his multi-million mansion in Ezigbo village, Ihiala LGA of Anambra State on Thursday.

Dying Singer Downie Bids Canada Farewell

A Canadian band whose lead singer was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer have performed their last concert at the end of an emotional farewell tour. The Tragically Hip drew a sell-out crowd to the last show in Kingston, Ontario, on Saturday, broadcast live across Canada.

PM Justin Trudeau, who was at the live show, said the band had "been writing Canada's soundtrack for over 30 years". Lead singer Gord Downie, 52, announced his illness in May. The news caused shock across Canada.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation called Mr Downie the country's "unofficial poet laureate".

The Globe and Mail newspaper reported that the 15-stop Man Machine Poem tour "left a trail of heartbreak but also celebration across the nation".

Mr Trudeau tweeted after the concert that the band would be "forever in our hearts and playlists".

He also tweeted a picture of himself writing on a wall of messages to what he dubbed "Canada's band".


Malaysian singer Namewee held for 'insulting Islam'

Police have arrested a popular but controversial Malaysian singer, after complaints that his most recent music video "insulted Islam".
Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, was detained on Sunday. He is known for his profanity-laced music
The offending video, for his song Oh My God, was first released in July and features him rapping in front of places of worship around Malaysia.
Namewee insists that Oh My God was intended to promote religious harmony.

But on Monday Malaysian police remanded the 33-year-old singer in custody for four days to investigate him for "defiling a place of worship with intention to insult religion". The charge carries a jail term of up to two years. 
About two thirds of Malaysians are Muslim, though the country also has significant Buddhist, Christian and Hindu populations. But there have been a number of instances in recent years of blogs and certain representations of Islam stoking controversy in the country.

KIA Truck Crashes Into Building; 3 Critically Injured

Three people are in critical condition at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region after a KIA truck skipped off the road and rammed into them Sunday.
An eye witness told Joy News’ Anas Sabbit the truck with registration BA 2327-12 drove into a storey building at high speed in what is believed to the result of brake failure.
The victims, including a porridge seller, were going about their business near the building.

The incident occurred at the Tamale lorry station in Techiman, near the Access Bank branch.

The driver has been picked up by police to assist with investigations.

Armed robbery training ground discovered in Tema

The Police have uncovered a shooting range at Tema Community 3 where suspected armed robbers do their shooting rehearsals before launching their attacks on innocent and law abiding citizens.

The suspected armed robbers had created their new improvised shooting range at the Ramsar site at Tema where they use empty plastic bottles as their targets.
The discovery by the police follows a robbery attack at the Tema Heavy Industrial area at 2am on Saturday where they attacked a steel manufacturing company, robbing a Chinese expatriate of his valuable items.

The suspected armed robbers were busily rehearsing when the police stormed their hideout following a tip-off. The suspects upon seeing the police opened fire on them and the police returned fire killing one instantly.

Two others are currently on the run and are being hunted by the police.

A total of 72 cartridges and several empty plastic bottles which served as targets for the shooting rehearsals were retrieved by the police.
