Henderson scores stunner as Liverpool beat Chelsea

Jordan Henderson scored a peach of a goal as Liverpool proved too good for Chelsea, securing a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
Much of the hype prior to the game was over David Luiz’s return to the Chelsea line-up in the absence of John Terry, but there was little that Luiz could have done to prevent Dejan Lovren’s 17th-minute opener, with Luiz’s team-mates conspiring to leave three red-shirted players free at the back post.
And there was nothing Luiz could have done to stop Liverpool’s second either, with Henderson picking out the top corner from range with an absurdly good long-range strike.

In-form Diego Costa pulled one back after Nemanja Matic’s skill on the by-line, but Liverpool held on for the three points.
TALKING POINT: Are Liverpool potential Premier League champions?
An opening day win at Arsenal, a 4-1 home win over the current champions Leicester City last Saturday, and now a 2-1 win over the 2015 champions at Chelsea tonight. With a point from their visi…

Architect dies in fall from Manhattan skyscraper

An architect has fallen to his death from a New York City skyscraper after losing his footing while at work.
Bruno Travalja, 52, was kneeling to take a measurement on the 42nd floor of the Manhattan building when he stood up and felt "dizzy", say police reports.
His body was found between 52nd and 53rd streets in midtown on Thursday afternoon, according to local media.

Officials are investigating whether faulty equipment or any violated safety protocols were factors in the death.
It is thought the New Jersey architect fell from the former Flatotel, which construction crews are converting into condominiums and offices.
The NYPD and the city's Department of Buildings are investigating the incident.
Mr Travalja was the owner of Crown Architectural Systems, according to his Facebook page.
Cetra/Ruddy, the architectural firm of record on the project, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ballon d'Or: Fifa ends association with world player of the year award

Fifa has ended its association with the Ballon d'Or award for the world's best player.
The award has been given by France Football every year since 1956, but for the past six years it became the Fifa Ballon d'Or in association with world football's governing body.
The French magazine will continue to run the award and will announce more details on Tuesday, 20 September.

Fifa ran a separate World Player of the Year award from 1991 until 2009.
It is thought they will now relaunch their own trophy, with the details yet to be worked out.
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi won four of the six Fifa Ballons d'Or, including the final one, with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo winning the other two.
The last year that neither of them won the Ballon d'Or or Fifa's main award was 2007, when Kaka won both.

Ellen DeGeneres goes shopping with Michelle Obama (FLOTUS)

First lady on aisle 4.
Ellen DeGeneres and Michelle Obama had some fun in a taped segment that aired Wednesday on DeGeneres's talk show. The pair hit up CVS to grab some items to prep the first lady for life after the White House. Obama appeared set on actually shopping, while DeGeneres played the trip for laughs -- teasing customers and insisting on opening a box of wine. "You are not a good person to shop with," joked Obama, who will vacate the White House when her husband's term expires in January. That didn't stop DeGeneres from poking fun at the first lady. She teased her about everything from the latest issue of Essence magazine, which features a photo spread of the first couple, to a more, um, personal matter. "Michelle, what kind of cream do you need for that rash you were telling me about?" DeGeneres asked loudly. Later, Obama fired back. "It's like taking a 3-year-old to the store," she said.  Source: CNN

X Factor and Britain's Got Talent to stay on ITV to at least 2019

The X Factor is to stay on ITV for at least the next three years, despite declining viewing figures and the arrival of The Voice to the channel.
The X Factor's 13th series began in August with 8.5 million viewers - four million fewer than 2010's launch show.
The Voice will move from the BBC to ITV next year, also on a three-year deal.
But the broadcaster has agreed a deal with Simon Cowell for both The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent to continue on ITV until at least 2019.
Cowell said: "I want to thank ITV for continuing to be fantastic partners. I'm delighted for the shows and, in particular, for all the talented people who work on them with us."
Cowell may not appear as a judge on both programmes, though - under the new deal he is only committed to judging one of the two series per year.

Film studio Fox seeks female blockbuster directors

Film studio 20th Century Fox has teamed up with the American Film Institute (AFI) for a scheme to find more women to direct major movies.
The studio will invite female directors to make short films based on its franchises, which include the X-Men, Alien and Die Hard series.
Fox says that will give the film-makers the chance to showcase their talents.

Recent figures showed that just 4.1% of the directors of the top films of the last eight years were women.
Female directors are also less likely to be appointed to big-budget films - a separate survey found that films with female directors between 2010-15 had an average budget of $12.6m (£9.6m), compared with $34.1m (£25.6m) for male directors.
Four films made by women appear in the list of the US's top 50 biggest-grossing films of 2016 so far - Kung Fu Panda 3, co-directed by Jennifer Yuh; Miracles from Heaven by Patricia Riggen; Me Before You by Thea Sharrock; and Jodie Foster's Money Monster.
Under the new scheme, selected…

I'm Now HIV Free - Dzidzor Mensah

Former Ghana AIDS Commission ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah has announced that as of this moment, her blood is entirely HIV free.

Dzidzor Mensah took to social media to make the announcement late Thursday, saying that tests at this moment shows there’s no trace of the virus in her blood.
Dzidzor Mensah was HIV/AIDS Ambassador for numerous years, but later became embroiled in scandal when she came to deny she ever had HIV. She later recanted, saying the social stigma from being publicly branded as HIV positive and its effects on her children led her to deny her status.

After years of treatments on anti-retrovirals – these stop the virus from multiplying and in effect boosts the body’s immune system to fight off the virus – it seems there is no trace of the virus left in her blood. Anti retrovirals usually reduce the trace of HIV in the blood to negligible levels, but her current situation is not exactly unheard of.

Dzidzor wrote on Facebook –

God I bless your name. I have go…

Ghanaian Hajj pilgrim gives birth in Saudi Arabia

A Ghanaian who took part in this year's Hajj pilgrimage successfully gave birth to a baby boy Thursday afternoon in Makkah.
According to doctors of the Ghana Medical Team in Saudi Arabia, both the mother, Hasiyatu Rufai, and the new baby are doing well without any complications.
One of the medical doctors, Dr Osumanu Danamiji explained that he personally advised Mrs Rufai at the Hajj Village in Accra who looked heavily pregnant to suspend her trip to Hajj this year.

He said she pleaded with him to allow her to participate because her doctors had assured her of a late delivery, sometime in October, by which time the Hajj pilgrimage would have been over.
According to Dr Danamiji, the delivery was smooth without any complications and Mrs Rufai and the baby were discharged hours after her delivery.
Dr Danamiji said despite the safe delivery, he would never encourage any pregnant woman from Ghana to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage regardless.
Mrs Rufai who hails from Kotokuraba-TUC …
