Floyd Mayweather says fight with UFC's Conor McGregor will not happen

Retired boxer Floyd Mayweather has ruled out a bout with mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor.
The American five-weight world champion, 39, said earlier this year he would want $100m (£69.3m) to fight the 28-year-old Irish UFC star.
"I tried to make the fight happen but we [weren't] able to, so we must move on." Mayweather told

"I feel honoured to be the biggest name in MMA and in boxing, and I don't even compete no more."
McGregor had previously said he was interested the contest, as long as Mayweather - who retired from boxing in September 2015 - could come up with the "appropriate funds" for the crossover fight.
"He is running around the Showtime offices, begging those executives to come up with the $100m cash he needs to fight me," the Irishman said last month. "As soon as he gets my money, we can fight."
McGregor is under contract with the UFC, and any potential fight against Mayweather would…

Fifa has said there has been no 'misuse of the funds' it has given to the Sierra Leone FA (SLFA).
SLFA president Isha Johansen was detained and questioned by Sierra Leone's Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) this month over the issue.
"Fifa has no reason to suspect there has been misuse of funds that Fifa has provided to the SLFA," Fifa wrote in a letter to the SLFA seen by the BBC.

Fifa also warned local authorities against interfering in SLFA business.
"In addition, over the course of the last three years, Fifa has noticed several activities of third parties that could be considered as interference (in) the running of the SLFA."
"These have caused continuous instability to the legitimate and recognised leadership of the federation," the Fifa letter, which was copied to the Confederation of African Football (Caf), added.
"Fifa urges the relevant Sierra Leone authorities - in particular the Ministry of Sports and the Anti-Corrup…

Ghana is a world class democracy - Mahama

President John Mahama has told the 71sth UN assembly currently ongoing in New York, USA, that Ghana, his home country, is a success story like many others on the African continent.

According to him, the Western world must acknowledge and appreciate that the various countries in Africa are at various stages of development and are genuinely yearning to grow.

He bemoaned instances where some powerful nations in the world in a bid to promote democracy on the continent, have forced their way on African countries, describing such moves as unhealthy.

Mr. Mahama who is facing an election in December said Ghana has made tremendous progress since independence.

“Africa is making progress and it is happening fast. It is important to note that the various 54 countries on the continent are at various stages of development and growth... And my own country Ghana is an example.

“I am proud of my country Ghana, it is part of Africa’s success story, we have not looked back since independence. Gha…

US: Colin Kaepernick says he has received death threats

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick says he has received death threats after he made the controversial decision not to stand up and sing while the national anthem was played as a form of protest for racial inequality in the U.S.
Colin's jersey is officially the highest selling jersey this season, but most people who buy it, have done so just to burn it and film it being burnt as he's been criticised by so many people for his stance “One of the things I’ve noticed throughout this is there’s a lot of racism in this country disguised as patriotism,” Kaepernick said Tuesday.  “And people want to take everything back to the flag, but that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking racial discrimination, inequalities and injustices that are happening across the nation.” According to Kaepernick, death threats have come from a "couple of different avenues" including social media and when he was asked about whether somebody were to act upon the spe…

Samuel Eto'o: Cameroonian dropped by Antalyaspor over racism comments

Turkish club Antalyaspor have dropped Samuel Eto'o from their squad until further notice in a row over the striker's comments on social media.
Former Cameroon captain Eto'o, 35, wrote on his Instagram account: "Perhaps some people do not feel respect for me because I am black."
Eto'o did not specify to whom he was targeting his criticism.

Earlier in the season, Antalyaspor chairman Ali Safak Ozturk criticised Eto'o for his performances.
He said at the time: "No player is above the interests of Antalyaspor. Everyone must know their place."
Reports in Turkey suggested Eto'o comments are a response to Ozturk but the forward posted another message on his Instagram account insisting that was not the case.
Eto'o moved to Antalyaspor in June 2015 as the keystone of the club's bid in the southern Mediterranean resort city to find national and even European success.
But his stint has turned sour in the past weeks amid intense rumours in the…

Sex slave being auctioned by ISIS to Saudi Arabian buyers

A picture has been released by the Sun UK showing an ISIS sex slave allegedly being auctioned by the terror group to bidders in Saudi Arabia.
The horrifying discovery was revealed when a jihadi was killed while fighting at the town of Al-Shirqat, an ISIS stronghold taken over by the group two years ago. Members of the Iraqi Popular Mobilisation Units, a state-sponsored militia that helps fight ISIS recovered the Jihadist's mobile phone and found a picture of a sex slave market taken in Saudi Arabia. It comes as a surprise to the Western world, given that Saudi Arabia  is part of the international coalition fighting ISIS alongside the UK and US even though it's believed in some quarters that wealthy Saudis have sponsored the terror group for years.
A spokesman for the PMU told Sun Online: “Our investigation officer was appalled at the set of images involving what we believe to be an Iraqi Yazidi (an ethnic minority in the region) woman taken as sex slave. Images were of…

Ghana is not broke – Terkper insists

Despite an unwavering rise in public debt and government’s difficulty to meet key statutory financial obligations, the Finance Minister has dispelled a widely held view that the economy is broke.

Seth Terkper insists government’s tax revenue mobilization is progressing, suggesting that government's borrowing spree is temporary.

“The economy is not broke. We are even in an era where the Bank of Ghana is not financing government, it has never happened,” he said.

There were renewed fears of a severely cash strapped economy after Bank of Ghana’s summary of Economic and Financial Data revealed last week that the country’s total public debt has hit almost GH¢110 billion as at July this year. ?

Prior to the Bank of Ghana’s revelation on September 18, there were claims by Minority Members of Parliament that cheques issued by the Common Fund Secretariat to pay some suppliers have not cleared.

However, speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 the Minste…

Nana Aba Anamoah writes - I'm frustrated

We have needed to have this talk for a long time.

It’s about time we sat down and checkmate ourselves as Ghanaians - frankly I don’t know what in the Name of GOD is going on under the guise of politics and campaigning.

What the hell is going on? Why will people fight among themselves and hurt each other just because its elections time? I’ve had just about enough of it... and I am absolutely sure that you have had enough as well.

I'm pretty angry. I'm at my wit's end. Saying I’m pissed off doesn't even begin to explain how I genuinely feel right now.

My mood is somewhere between annoyance and sadness.

Why have we allowed ourselves to be used as pawns by politicians in their quest for power?

As I was busy on my usual ritual of catching news updates on, and I couldn’t for the life of me understand why someone, our very own, a fellow Ghanaian, had lost a finger in Asunafo South as a result of clashes between members of …
