Obama criticized Trump over his spreading of the birther conspiracy theory, continuing a rebuke she first made earlier this month while stumping for Clinton in Virginia.

"There are those who questioned and continue to question for the past eight years whether my husband was even born in this country," Obama said to boos. "And let me say: hurtful, deceitful questions deliberately designed to undermine his presidency. Questions that cannot be blamed on others or swept under the rug by an insincere sentence uttered at a press conference.&q…

Lifestyle: HR Today: Employee goal setting tips

Setting appropriate employee goals is an important component of keeping the workforce productive and motivated. It can also affect retention since clear expectations are a critical component of employee satisfaction levels. And organizations that opt to implement pay-for-performance programs have an added layer of accountability by putting a piece of the employee’s compensation on the line.

For these reasons and more, HR managers and all employee managers and supervisors have a vested interest in setting appropriate and effective goals for employees. Let’s take a look at a few tips to do exactly that.

• Employee goals should be in alignment with the organizational goals: Some companies opt for a top-down approach to goal setting that takes each organizational goal and translates it into specific activities at each level within the company.

• Create goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. This is often referred to as creating “SMART” goals:

BlackBerry said on Wednesday that it will rely on partners to manufacture the phones, which will still have BlackBerry's look and feel.
The company announced a joint venture with an Indonesian telecom company that will start making them.

BlackBerry plans to turn its attention to software, a move it has made gradually in recent years as sales of its phones have slid.
Shares of BlackBerry (BBRY, Tech30) rose 4% in early trading after the announcement. But the stock price is well below its peak from several years ago.

The Lion King: Disney announces live action film remake

Having become king of the jungle, Jon Favreau is heading to the African Savannah.
Disney has tapped the filmmaker to oversee its upcoming live-action remake of “The Lion King.” Favreau already had success modernizing “The Jungle Book” for the studio.  He’s also the director of “Iron Man” and “Iron Man 2.” Disney has been busy delving into its vaults, and modernizing classic animated fare like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Cinderella” with flesh and blood actors, and, in the case of “The Jungle Book,” pixilated critters. Barring tremendous advances in lion taming, presumably real animals won’t be used in this one either. They’ll be of the digital variety.

“The Lion King” has already been turned into a Tony-winning Broadway musical, that continues to draw crowds. The 1994 version was one of the studio’s most successful films, earning $968.8 million globally. The story centers on a young lion whose father and the king of his pride, is killed by his villainous uncle, who than usurp…

Jay Z and Damon Dash win Roc-A-Fella logo case after judge dismisses lawsuit

Jay Z has won a $7m (£5.3m) lawsuit over the Roc-A-Fella logo.
Dwayne Walker, a New York-based designer, claimed to have created it for the music mogul's record label.
Mr Walker accused the rapper of breach of contract and copyright infringement and demanded royalties for its use.
However, in a 32-page decision, the judge found a lack of evidence that the contract even existed. The decision was made by US district judge Andrew Carter in Manhattan.

Judge Carter ruled that Dwayne Walker wasn't entitled to royalties under a contract reportedly signed by Roc-A-Fella co-founder, Damon "Dame" Dash.
The designer claimed in the case, which was first filed in July 2012, that he designed the artwork in 1995.
He alleged that the vinyl record logo became the basis for the Roc-A-Fella design.
However, Jay Z, Damon Dash, Roc-A-Fella and its parent Universal Music Group Inc (a unit of France's Vivendi SA) said that the logo was designed by an in-house art director.

Dortmund, Real Share 2-2 Draw

A see-saw battle between wily champions Real Madrid and young pretenders Borussia Dortmund ended in a 2-2 draw on Tuesay night, a result that will leave both sides feeling relatively satisfied and believing thinking they can go far in this year’s competition.
Toni Kroos said on Monday that this would be Real Madrid’s first real test of the season and the Champions League holders showed their mettle with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane. Between those goals, Dortmund equalised when Varane unfortunately found his own net after a Keylor Navas error. Thomas Tuchel’s emerging team made their own luck late on, though, with substitute Christian Pulisic assisting for fellow replacement Andre Schurrle to equalise.
