Some in G.O.P. Who Deserted Donald Trump Over Video Are Returning

Republicans were fleeing Donald J. Trump after a video of him demeaning women was made public last Friday, but less than a week later some are already starting to come back to the Republican presidential nominee.
Senator Deb Fischer, a Republican from Nebraska who said on Saturday that Mr. Trump’s remarks were “disgusting” and that he should drop out of the race, said on Tuesday that she still planned to vote for Mr. Trump.

“Like most Nebraskans, I am fully committed to defeating Hillary Clinton,” Ms. Fischer told a Nebraska radio station. “I support the Republican ticket and I plan to vote for Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence on November 8th.”

Ms. Fischer reiterated that she found Mr. Trump’s remarks unacceptable, but added, “I never said that I wasn’t voting for our Republican ticket.”
Mr. Trump has been raging against Republicans who revoked their endorsements of him this week, warning in a series of tirades on Twitter that their lack of loyalty wold cost them at the polls on Election…

Gabrielle Union Sues BET Over 'Being Mary Jane'

BET is upping the episodes of Being Mary Jane to squeeze more out of Gabrielle Union's contract, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The actress claims the network agreed it would never produce more than 13 episodes per season, but now is trying to tape two 10-episode seasons back-to-back to "cram all of the episodes into a single season in order to fraudulently extend the term of Ms. Union's contract."
Union's attorney Martin Singer claims the network is combining seasons four and five to avoid paying his client's contractual raise and to extend its option to engage her services for another year. Under her contract, Union is set to receive $150,000 per episode for season four and $165,000 per episode for season five.

The actress is suing the network and Breakdown Productions for breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation.
At the time she was approached for Being Mary Jane, Union was a movie star and did…

Serge Aurier: PSG & Ivory Coast man 'saves life' of Mali player

Paris Saint-Germain and Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier has been praised after "saving the life" of Mali forward Moussa Doumbia on Saturday.
After Doumbia was knocked unconscious in a challenge with Sunderland's Lamine Kone, Aurier intervened to stop the Rostov player swallowing his tongue.
Mali's manager Alain Giresse added that he spoke to Aurier after the game to thank him for his "superb reactions".

Ivory Coast went on to win the home 2018 World Cup qualifier 3-1 in Bouake.
"All the players realised that Doumbia was choking and was about to swallow his tongue," Giresse told French radio station RMC.
"That's when Aurier, with one of our players, quickly put him on his side and pulled out his tongue, because he was about to lose his life."
However, Aurier later caused controversy by making a throat-slit gesture towards the crowd after his side's third goal.
The celebration was the latest in a string of incidents involving th…

The 13 former officials backed the Democrat in an open letter Wednesday, led by former EPA head Christine Todd Whitman and former Transportation Secretary Mary Peters.
"We believe in effective government, a society of hope and optimism balanced with realism, and a politics of civility and honesty. None of these values are present in Donald Trump's campaign," the ex-officials wrote.

The Wednesday letter follows an open declaration in August from 50 foreign policy experts who served in GOP admini…

Obama smells himself, confirms he is not a demon

President Barack Obama has vowed to be a regular presence on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton, but he took the opportunity at a rally Tuesday to settle a different issue: whether he smells like sulfur -- as in, like a demon.
"I was reading the other day. There's a guy on the radio who apparently said me and Hillary are demons, said we smell like sulfur. Ain't that something?" Obama joked at a Clinton rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Then, leaning over to take an exaggerated whiff of his arm, Obama cracked, "Now, I mean, come on people!" Obama was responding to the claim by Alex Jones, founder of the conspiracy website "InfoWars" and host of "The Alex Jones Show" on radio, who warned viewers on his program that both the President and the Democratic presidential nominee carried the scent of demons.  "Hillary, reportedly, I mean, I was told by people around her that they think she's demon-possessed, okay? I'…

US election: FBI investigating hacking of Clinton campaign chief

Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, John Podesta, has said the FBI is investigating whether Russia was behind a hack on his private email.
Mr Podesta also suggested Republican nominee Donald Trump's campaign was given advance notice of the breach.
His remarks come after WikiLeaks published a trove of his hacked emails.

The top adviser to Mrs Clinton said the enquiry was part of a wider probe into hacks on the Democratic Party by groups with Russian ties.
"I've been involved in politics for nearly five decades," Mr Podesta told reporters aboard the Clinton campaign plane.
"This definitely is the first campaign that I've been involved with in which I've had to tangle with Russian intelligence agencies, who seem to be doing everything they can on behalf of our opponent."
The longtime aide to Mrs Clinton pointed to a tweet by Mr Trump's adviser Roger Stone in August that said Mr Podesta's "time in the barrel" was coming.

“In the private sector in North Carolina, she can go wherever the private sector wants her to,” Governor
McCrory said in Tuesday’s debate between McCrory and his Democratic opponent, state Attorney General Roy Cooper.

“If she’s going to a shower facility at [University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill] after running around the track, she’s going to use the men’s shower.”

'The Simpsons' Predicted Monday's Nobel Prize in 2010 (VIDEO)

Milhouse is a genius. Really.
On Monday, Bengt Holmström of MIT and Oliver Hart of Harvard were announced as the joint winners of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Economics (for work on contact theory and how to evaluate whether things should be government run or privately owned).

But eagle-eyed Simpsons fans were not surprised. Milhouse Van Houten predicted the win in the 2010 Simpsons season premiere via a Nobel Prize betting poll he was in with Lisa, Martin Prince and computer (Yes, they really were in a thing).

The episode's plot revolves around Krusty the Clown being scammed into thinking he won the Nobel Peace Prize so he'll travel to Europe where he is arrested and tried by the International Court of Justice for deplorable behavior. Bart and Homer save him by "proving" that Krusty helped win the release of Nelson Mandela (though he really just wanted a potato chip).

Soon after the announcement, MIT tweeted out the connection between the Simpsons and Holmström:
