Nigeria beat Cameroon to win the 2016 women's Africa Cup of Nations

Nigeria won the 2016 women's Africa Cup of Nations for an eighth time after a 1-0 win over hosts Cameroon in front of a capacity 40,000 crowd in Yaounde.
A late goal from Desire Oparanozie was enough for Nigeria to retain the trophy they won in Namibia two years ago.

The Super Falcons have dominated this competition, winning all but two of the ten editions played so far.
In a repeat of the 2014 final, Cameroon finished as runners-up again despite enjoying massive home support.
In front of Cameroon president Paul Biya, the hosts had the best of the first half, with a number of chances for Aboudi Onguene, but the Indomitable Lionesses failed to make the most of their opportunities.
In the second half, Oparanozie, who also scored Nigeria's winner against South Africa in their semi-final, hit the decisive goal again when she broke the deadlock seven minutes from time.
She followed through on a pass from the tournament's leading scorer Asisat Oshoala to give her team the trophy…

(photos) Fights, red cards & end to end action as Pep Guardiola's Man City is humiliated 1-3 by Chelsea

Chelsea proved on Saturday that if there's any team that deserves to win this season it's themselves as they came from behind to whitewash Man City 3-1 at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola's side, title contenders themselves, took the lead shortly before the break as Chelsea defender Gary Cahill deflected a Jesus Navas cross into his own net while Azpilicueta and Thibaut Courtois watched on.

Chelsea reacted in superb fashion as goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard in the 60th, 70th and 90th minute ensured a great win and a great dent on premier league poster boy Pep Guardiola's title ambitions.

It was also a very emotional and intense match as Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho almost started a fight while Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho were both sent off late on, after a dangerous tackle on David Luiz.

We never know what can happen in the EPL , but for now, the sky remains blue!

China lodges complaint with US over Trump's Taiwan phone call

China has lodged “solemn representations” with the US over a call between the president-elect, Donald Trump, and Taiwan’s leader, Tsai Ing-wen.
Trump looked to have sparked a potentially damaging diplomatic row with Beijing on Friday after speaking to the Taiwanese president on the telephone.
The call, first reported by the Taipei Times and confirmed by the Financial Times, is thought to be the first between the leader of the island and a US president or president-elect since ties between the two countries were severed in 1979, at the behest of Beijing.
Geng Shuang, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, said in a statement on Saturday: “It must be pointed out that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China.”
Geng added: “This is a fact that is generally recognised by the international community.”
The statement did not describe the detai…

Prove yourself at debates not 'slangs' on Peace FM - Mahama to Nana Addo

President John Mahama has taken a dig at the NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo for snubbing the NCCE/GBC presidential debate, and instead granting an interview to Peace FM.

According to the President, the former attorney showed gross disrespect to Ghanaians by refusing to show up for the debate, which featured five of the presidential candidates.

Nana Addo has told the media he refused to show up because he could not trust the fairness of GBC and the NCCE who organised the debate. He added that the state broadcaster has been turned into a communication wing of the ruling party.

Addressing party supporters in the Volta region Friday, Mr Mahama said the three-time flagbearer failed to attend the debate because he was afraid of being exposed by him.

“He says so many things that are wrong. So I said come and sit down and let’s have a debate so that Ghanaians will know the truth; he run away. So after running away from the one-on-one, the NCCE gave the opportunity to all of us who wa…

Chapecoense plane crash: Team's home town gathers for memorial service

The bodies of 71 people killed in a plane crash in Colombia that devastated a Brazilian football team are being returned home, as the team's home town prepares for a memorial service.

More than 100,000 people are expected to turn out for a ceremony at the team's stadium in Chapeco later.
Just six people survived Monday's crash outside Medellin, where Chapecoense were due to play a regional final.

Brazilian President Michel Temer is due to greet the planes at the airport.
But he is not expected to go to the ceremony at the stadium, reportedly amid concerns about protests taking place. Fifa's Gianni Infantino will be attending the service.
As the bodies were taken to the airport in Medellin on Friday, hundreds of people lined the road to pay their final respects.
The remains of the Paraguayan crew member Gustavo Encina were handed over to his family in Paraguay.
The other victims, 64 Brazilians, five Bolivians and a Venezuelan, were flown home in a series of flights.

Trump breaks US policy stance with direct Taiwan call

US President-elect Donald Trump has spoken directly with the president of Taiwan - breaking with US policy set in 1979 when formal relations were cut.
Mr Trump's transition team said he and Tsai Ing-wen noted "close economic, political, and security ties" between the US and Taiwan in a phone call.
The move risks angering China, which sees Taiwan as a breakaway province.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has reportedly dismissed the call as a "petty trick" by Taiwan.
Mr Trump tweeted that Ms Tsai had called him to congratulate him on winning the US election.
His team said that the US president-elect had also congratulated Ms Tsai on becoming the president of Taiwan in January's elections.
It is highly unusual for a US president or president-elect to speak to a Taiwanese leader directly.
Following media reports pointing out the risks of angering China, Mr Trump tweeted: "Interesting how the US sells Taiwan billions of dollars of military equipment but I …

Vendors caught inflating raw chickens with their mouths to make them bigger to sell for a higher price

Video taken in Venezuela has revealed how vendors trick customers into parting with a little more money. The people in the video are seen blowing up raw chickens with their mouths to make them feel heavier so they can charge a higher price for the birds. They blow into the mouth of chickens for several seconds then seal it up so the air does not escape.

According to reports, chickens which weigh 2kg on the store scale drop to as little as 1.5kg when deflated at home. There are now concerns that as well as ripping the public off, the practise of inflating chickens could spread disease. Watch the video below..
